The invention relates to a packaging apparatus (1) and a method used to produce packaging units (35). The packaging units (35) comprise at least one article (30), such as a beverage can (31), held in a packaging blank (20) having at least in some portions or areas that are flat. The packaging blank (20) has at least one passage opening (23) in the flat portion or area for article(s) (30). The packaging apparatus (1) comprises a feeder device (2); a pre-treatment module (9) to prepare the packaging blank (20) for the application to the article(s) (30); and a first packaging module (7) to apply and locate the packaging blank (20) to the article(s) (30). The pre-treatment module (9) comprises a device to reduce a resistance force in an edge area (24) of the passage openings (23) during the application of the packaging blank (20) to the article(s) (30).

Packaging apparatus and method for producing packaging units

The invention includes a method used to place article groups into outer packagings () packaging apparatus (). Article groups are transferred by a handling device () from a staging location () to a conveyor line () and are placed into the outer packagings (). The conveyor line () serves to successively transport outer packagings (). At least some of the articles () of a particular article group are directed and/or guided during a placing procedure by a centering device () assigned to the conveyor line () and moved along with the outer packagings (), which are being transported on the conveyor line () and which are to be loaded with article groups.

Handling apparatus and/or packaging apparatus and method used to package article groups in outer packaging

The invention includes a method and apparatus to transfer and place articles () into outer packages (), which are open at the top and which each receive at least one article group () composed of a plurality of articles (). In the method, at least one article group () is seized by at least one handling device () and is placed from above into one of the outer packages (). An article group (), which has been seized by the handling device (), already is compacted or will be compacted during placement of the article group into the outer package () by reducing the spacings between at least some of the individual articles () of the article group (). The article group may also be subsequently spread out.

Method to transfer and place articles into outer packages and apparatus to carry out the method

An apparatus () for assembling several beverage containers () into a multipack () is disclosed. The apparatus () comprises a horizontal conveying device () for moving groupings (), each grouping () comprising several beverage containers (). The apparatus () also comprises at least one working device () that applies packaging blanks () to the groupings (). The beverage containers () of a grouping () pass through openings in the packaging blank () and are held together by the packaging blank (). The apparatus () furthermore comprises at least one handling apparatus () which places the beverage containers () on the horizontal conveying device () such that the beverage containers () are in alignment with respect to one another. The alignment of the beverage containers () allows the packaging blank () to be applied to the beverage containers () directly upon their placement on the horizontal conveying device ().
