The invention relates to a method for providing required construction material information in the context of producing at least one three-dimensional object using a generative layer construction device, having the following steps: accessing data of a layer to be applied in a first data set in which for each layer to be applied during the production process, it is indicated whether construction material is to be solidified selectively in the layer and if so, at which locations in said layer the construction material is to be solidified; dividing the area of the layer to be applied into sub-regions; assigning weighting factors to the sub-regions, and ascertaining a construction material quantity to be supplied to the coating device in order to apply the layer, wherein the construction material quantity is ascertained using the weighting factors assigned to individual sub-regions and is provided as required construction material information.

Disclosed is a method for supervision of an additive manufacturing process for producing a manufacturing product by selectively solidifying build-up material in a process chamber. The build-up material is irradiated according to predefinable irradiation control data; and a process chamber supervisory data set is generated based on the irradiation control data, supervisory data being encoded process chamber point by process chamber point in said data set. An exposure control device serves for equipping and/or retrofitting a generative layer-wise building device. The exposure control device has a first data output interface, at which control commands can be output to the exposure device. The control commands specify one of a plurality of exposure types defined by a predetermined combination of a radiation energy density to be emitted by the exposure device and a scanning pattern with which the radiation is being directed to a region of a layer of the building material. The exposure control device also includes a second data output interface at which an exposure type can be output in real time in relation to a timing of the output of a control command specifying this exposure type.

In a method of providing a material amount for a generative manufacturing method, a three-dimensional object () is formed by selectively solidifying layers of a material at locations corresponding to the cross-section of the object () in the respective layers. The quality of the manufactured objects is reproducibly recorded, thus, improving the method. At least one first material amount of a powder is provided, which is characterized by at least one feature. Data is detected, which relates to the at least one feature of the first material. Then, the data is stored, which relates to the at least one feature of the first material. Thus, the method can provide an identifiable powder amount used in manufacturing each layer of the object.
