A mixing valve has a housing with a first inlet, a second inlet, a first outlet and a second outlet, and has a valve element arranged adjustably in the housing, and which valve element has a first fluid passage which, in a first position of the valve element, connects the first inlet and first outlet, in a second position of the valve element, connects the first inlet and second outlet, and in a third position of the valve element, connects the first inlet to the first outlet and second outlet, and which valve element has a second fluid passage which, in the first position of the valve element, connects the second inlet and second outlet, in the second position of the valve element, connects the second inlet and first outlet, and, in the third position of the valve element, connects the second inlet to the first outlet and second outlet.

Mixing valve

A method for monitoring an oil flow, generated by an oil pump, in an oil cooling circuit of a thermal management system, includes: arranging a first pressure sensor at a first point in the cooling circuit; arranging a second pressure sensor at a second point in the oil cooling circuit; determining pressure difference values based on recorded pressures; and comparing the pressure difference values with a predeterminable comparison value for the pressure difference so as to check for a fault.

Method for monitoring an oil flow in an oil cooling circuit

A thermal management system having a battery and an electric motor, the temperature of both of which is to be controlled, wherein the electric motor is oil-cooled. The thermal management system has a monitoring system for monitoring an oil flow generated by an oil pump, in an oil cooling circuit including the electric motor. The monitoring system in this case has a first pressure sensor at a first point of the oil cooling circuit and a second pressure sensor at a second point of the oil cooling circuit and/or a speed sensor assigned to the oil pump. Also proposed is a vehicle having a thermal management system of this type.

A thermal management system for a vehicle and a vehicle having a thermal management system, the thermal management system having a first coolant circuit for a battery and a second coolant circuit for an electric motor for driving the vehicle. The two coolant circuits can be operated in series or in parallel by a multi-way valve. The thermal management system further includes an oil cooling circuit for additionally cooling the electric motor, wherein the oil cooling circuit is thermally connected to the second coolant circuit via a heat exchanger.

A thermal management system, for use in a vehicle, is provided in which coolant flows two cooling circuits can be mixed with each other as needed by a multi-way valve at an interface between a first cooling circuit for a battery and a second cooling circuit for an electric motor for driving the vehicle.

Thermal management system vehicle and method for operating two cooling circuits of a thermal management system

A thermal management system for use in a vehicle includes a first cooling circuit for cooling a battery; and a second cooling circuit for cooling an electric motor configured to drive the vehicle. The first and second cooling circuits are connected to each other: (a) in series by a multi-way valve in a first mode of the thermal management system and in a first valve position of the multi-way valve, or (b) in parallel in a second mode of the thermal management system and in a second valve position of the multi-way valve. In a third mode of the thermal management system and in a third valve position, the multi-way valve is configured to take up an intermediate position in which coolant flows of the first and second cooling circuits are mixed with each other as needed.
