A device for tomographic scanning objects comprises a source of light for irradiating the object; a first grid arranged in the optical axis of the light beam so that a pattern of the first grid is projected on the object; an optical imaging assembly for imaging the object on a sensor; and a second grid provided in the optical axis of the reflected light beam having a pattern matching the first grid, through said second grid the reflected light beam having the pattern of the first grid being guided so that the sensor senses the light beam reflected by the object with a Moir&#xe9; pattern resulting from overlying the pattern of the first grid and the pattern of the second grid. The device further comprises a means for moving the first grid and/or the second grid at a frequency causing fluctuations in the intensity of the resulting Moir&#xe9; pattern.

The present invention suggests an apparatus for simulating the ambient color and translucence conditions present in the oral cavity of a patient for the purpose of checking the color stimulus specification of dentures prior to their implanting into the oral cavity of a patient. The apparatus comprises an artificial jaw portion including a dimensionally stable, elastic artificial gum body portion simulating at least the vestibulary gum of a patient in which the teeth are inserted. The artificial gum body portion is made of a translucent material. The teeth can be individually replaced by dentures. The color stimulus specification of a denture inserted into the apparatus is checked by means of a color stimulus specification measuring apparatus and compared to the values obtained from a measurement taken in the oral cavity of a patient.

In order to determine the color stimulus specification of a translucent object under test, it is suggested to illuminate the object under test with light having different wave length bandwidth portions, or, alternatively, to subdivide the light reflected by the object under test into different wave length bandwidth portions before it is captured by an image sensor. To exactly approach a probe head to the object under test, the object under test is visualized with the help of a further image sensor. Preferably, two image sensors are used, whereby the one image sensor is used for visualizing the object under test and the other image sensor is used for determining the colorimetric data of the object under test. In this way, the color stimulus specification of the object under test can be determined very exactly. Moreover, such a method including an apparatus suitable for performing the method can be practically realized very easily.

A computer-controlled device for detecting optical transmission and/or remittance properties of a measuring object has a measuring unit for illuminating the measuring object and for receiving the light transmitted by the measuring object and/or reflected from the measuring object. Furthermore, it has an input unit for selecting the type of measurement and the like, as well as a display unit for displaying the values measured. The light is transmitted from the light sources to the object under test by means of an optically conducting fiber bundle. The light reflected by the object under test is received by a lens and led via an optically conducting fiber bundle to a spectrometer. Thereafter, the measurement signal is digitized and arithmetically evaluated in a microprocessor. Due to the fact that two differently sized light spots are used, the measurement error which results in determining the color specification value of a translucent object can be defined and corrected. For this purpose, use is made of reference measurement values which have been obtained by measuring opaque reference objects and which have been stored in a memory module of the apparatus. A manual device for the detection of photometric values on a printed product comprises a measuring head extruding from a housing into a measuring position. The measuring head is mounted together with its optical components on a measuring carriage, which may be displaced along the bottom of the housing by means of a drive motor between a rest position and a measuring position. The drive motor drives via a gear, a drive pulley and a grid axle for a monochromator. A sliding gear and a locking device are coordinated with the drive pulley, with the locking device immobilizing the measuring carriage precisely in the measuring position. The drive motor serves to displace the measuring carriage until the locking process essentially begins; and after this process, serves to rotate the grid axle.

The measuring light captured by the measuring head is spectrally decomposed by a monochromator containing a diffraction grating. The spectral position of the measuring light is set by a drive motor rotating a grating shaft connected with the holder of the diffraction grating. From the spectra detected, densitometric and colorimetric data are calculated by a computer, which together with the spectra determined, may be displayed on a display field.
