An illumination arrangement includes illumination optics defining an optical axis and a light source for generating at least one illumination beam path for illuminating an object field at a specific illumination angle with a viewing beam path. At least one mirror is provided in the illumination beam path for deflecting light from the light source and the mirror has a longitudinal extent along the optical axis. A light-emitting surface region of the light source is variable (x) perpendicular to the optical axis without movable components. The illumination optics are embodied in such a way for obtaining a desired illumination that an illumination pupil is imaged within the longitudinal extent of the mirror.

A coupling-in apparatus is provided for coupling light from a light-emitting diode () into a fiber entry end () of at least one optical fiber (). An illuminating system () is provided for an optical viewing apparatus () which can be operated in a fluorescence mode. The illuminating system includes at least one broadband light source () for illuminating a viewed object () and at least one narrowband light source () for exciting fluorescence in the viewed object () and/or for background illumination in the fluorescence mode. The illuminating system further includes a light conductor () having a light source end inlet end () and an outlet end () facing toward the viewed object. Furthermore, the illuminating system () includes a superposer () for superposing the light of the narrowband light source () with the light of the broadband light source (). The superposer () is mounted at the inlet end () or at the light source side ahead of the inlet end () of the light conductor ().

Illuminating system and an optical viewing apparatus incorporating said illuminating system

A light source arrangement () for an illumination device of a medical-optical observation apparatus has an illumination light source () and an illumination optical unit () for illuminating an observation object () with illumination light from the illumination light source (). The light source arrangement () has at least one luminescence emitter () as light source and an imaging optical unit () that generates an image () of the at least one luminescence emitter () with a defined magnification scale, which image forms the illumination light source for the illumination device.

A medical illumination unit () has an LED chip () and a rod-shaped body () with a proximal end () and a distal end (). A distal hollow section () begins before the distal end () and reaches the distal end (), and a supply lead section () begins at the proximal end () and reaches the distal hollow section (). The LED chip () is in the distal hollow section of the rod-shaped body () and is supplied with energy through the supply lead (). A luminescent converter is between the LED chip () and the distal end () of the rod-shaped or tubular body or at the distal end of the rod-shaped body (), the converter properties of which are selected to convert light emitted by the LED chip () into light with a desired wavelength distribution.
