A projection device for projecting at least one image onto a projection surface is provided. According to the present disclosure, a control device of the projection device is designed, on the basis of an evaluation of at least one measured value of a measuring device of the projection device determined during a drive of a discharge lamp of the projection device with a current waveform to be checked, to check the current waveform in respect of its suitability for minimizing an electrode burn-back of a first electrode and a second electrode, and in the case of a positive check result, to retain the checked current waveform, and in the case of a negative check result, depending on a checked commutation vector characterizing the checked current waveform, to create, by means of a specifiable algorithm, a modified commutation vector that characterizes a modified current waveform.

Projection device and method for projecting at least one image onto a projection surface

A method for operating a high-pressure discharge lamp with a variable power is disclosed. Said method utilizing at least the following steps: (a) providing high-pressure discharge lamp, which has a nominal operating power; (b) operating the lamp with an instantaneous power, where the instantaneous power lies within relative lower and upper power limits, respectively, and said limits may depend on an average power, and said instantaneous power may lie within a predetermined absolute lower and upper power limit; (c) determining the average power from a one-sided moving average value of the instantaneous power or the exponential smoothing of the instantaneous power of a time segment of predefined length.

Method for operating a high-pressure discharge lamp with a variable power

A method for operating a gas discharge lamp featuring a gas discharge lamp burner and a first and a second electrode, wherein the electrodes have a nominal electrode separation in the gas discharge lamp burner before their first activation and said nominal separation is correlated to the lamp voltage. The method may include checking whether the off-time, corresponding to the time duration between two DC voltage phases, has expired; and if the off-time has expired, omitting commutations or applying pseudo-commutations for a predefined time duration which depends on the lamp voltage in such a way that a time duration of the omission of at least one of commutations and application of pseudo-commutations is predefined for each lamp voltage.

Method and electronic operating device for operating a gas discharge lamp and projector

A circuit arrangement for the closed-loop control of the current through at least one discharge lamp may include a control loop including: a setpoint value input for supplying a setpoint value; an actual value input for supplying an actual value; and an output for providing a signal, which has been correlated with the current through the at least one discharge lamp, the actual value having been correlated with the value of the current through the discharge lamp; and a setpoint value input apparatus, which is designed to provide the setpoint value to the control loop; wherein the setpoint value input apparatus includes: a microprocessor with at least one input, the microprocessor being designed to couple the at least one input to a potential from a group of at least two different potentials; and a wiring apparatus with at least one input, which is coupled to the at least one input of the microprocessor, and at least one output, which is coupled to at least one point of the control loop.
