Various examples pertaining to improvement for incorrect key set identifier (KSI) handling in mobile communications are described. An apparatus (e.g., user equipment) receives from a wireless network an authentication challenge after the processor having completed an authentication and key agreement (AKA) procedure with the wireless network. The apparatus detects an error in the authentication challenge and handles the error in the authentication challenge. For example, the apparatus can reject the authentication challenge responsive to detecting the error. Alternatively, the apparatus can accept the authentication challenge.

Incorrect KSI handling in mobile communications

Systems, methods, and apparatuses are provided for handling a legacy circuit switched communication. A method may include receiving a service request message at a network node on a packet switched network that does not support circuit switched fallback. The method may additionally include determining that the service request message includes a request for establishment of a communication requiring a circuit switched connection and having a user equipment connected to the packet switched network as an end point of the communication. The method may further include releasing the connection between the user equipment and the packet switched network in response to the determination. Corresponding systems and apparatuses are also provided.

Embodiments provide a method, apparatus and computer program for operating a user equipment (UE). The method begins by determining that a valid authentication for the UE, generated with a radio network operating with a first radio access technology (RAT), is not a mutual authentication between the UE and the network operating with the first RAT. In response, the UE unilaterally takes action to prevent the valid authentication that is not a mutual authentication from being used to authenticate with a radio network operating with a second RAT that utilizes mutual authentication.

Method, apparatus and computer program for operating a user equipment

A method, user equipment and non-transitory computer readable memory for establishing an emergency service using a wireless network includes unilaterally deactivating, at the user equipment when the user equipment needs to establish an emergency service, at least one active context with the wireless network without deactivating at least one other active context. Thereafter directing to the wireless network, a request to establish the emergency service that identifies the emergency service and one or more contexts that remain active after the unilateral deactivation of the at least one active context by the user equipment, synchronizing, in response to and based on the request, current context status information of the user equipment with the wireless network, and then establishing the emergency service using the wireless network with which the active context was deactivated.

Deactivating existing bearer/context for emergency bearer establishment

A user equipment UE with an active connection (radio or logical) with a wireless network needs to establish an emergency service. The UE unilaterally deactivates an active session or context with the wireless network, and thereafter sends to the wireless network signaling to establish the emergency service, in which the signaling specifically identifies the service as an emergency service. In one embodiment (FIG.) the UE locally detaches from an active packet domain communication and sends an emergency attach so as to clear resources. In another embodiment (FIG.) the UE deactivates one or more contexts and sends an extended service request which identifies one or more context which remains active after the deactivating. In another embodiment (FIG.), after the signaling to establish the emergency service (SERVICE REQUEST) the UE sends a deactivation message explicitly indicating which context(s) is/are deactivated (PDN CONTEXT DEACTIVATION or PDN DISCONNECT REQUEST).
