There is disclosed a selective wetting apparatus comprising a roller rotatable about a roller axis and comprising a wettable roller surface; an applicator unit having a lip which extends parallel to the roller axis and is radially spaced apart from the roller surface by a gap, wherein the applicator unit is to convey liquid agent towards the roller so that the liquid agent forms a liquid bridge over the gap to wet a wetted axial portion of the roller surface; and a flow guide to direct a gas flow into a regulated axial portion of the gap to locally prevent formation of a liquid bridge, and thereby prevent wetting of a corresponding axial portion of the roller surface.

Selective wetting of a roller

There is disclosed apparatus for wetting a roller of a printing system comprising an applicator unit comprising a liquid agent chamber. Upper and lower walls extend from the liquid agent chamber to define a slit therebetween. The upper wall extends beyond a lip of the lower wall to a transfer lip. A flow restrictor is received in the slit to prevent flow of liquid agent to a respective portion of the transfer lip, thereby defining a restricted portion of the slit and an adjacent unrestricted portion of the slit. The flow restrictor fits in the restricted portion with a clearance that permits liquid agent flow at a reduced velocity relative flow through the unrestricted portion, such that liquid agent along the restricted portion is discharged from the lower wall. A method of installing a flow restrictor is also disclosed.

Wetting apparatus

An example apparatus includes a conveyor. The apparatus also includes a first developer unit. The first developer unit is to concentrate first printing liquid. The first developer unit also is to deliver the first printing liquid to the conveyor. The apparatus also includes a second developer unit. The second developer unit is to concentrate second printing liquid. The second developer also is to deliver the second printing liquid to the conveyor to form a thick layer of printing liquid comprising the first and second printing liquid.

Printing liquids concentration

A method of maintaining a photoconductive member of an image forming apparatus is disclosed. The method includes applying fluid to a photoconductive member to form an image thereon, transferring the fluid from the photoconductive member in the form of the image and providing sponge applicator fluid to respective sponge applicator units. The method also includes squeezing the sponge applicator units to remove at least a portion of the sponge applicator fluid therefrom and sequentially placing each one of the sponge applicator units in contact with the photoconductive member to cool and clean the photoconductive member.

Hard image forming apparatuses and methods are described. According to one arrangement, a hard image forming apparatus includes an imaging member comprising a surface, a development system configured to provide a marking agent to the surface of the imaging member to form developed images upon the surface of the imaging member which correspond to latent images formed using the surface of the imaging member, and a transfer system configured to transfer the developed images from the surface of the imaging member to media. The arrangement further includes a contamination removal device configured to remove contamination material from the surface of the imaging member, and a control system configured to control the contamination removal device to contact the surface of the imaging member to remove the contamination material from the surface of the imaging member at a first moment in time and to space the contamination removal device from the surface of the imaging member at a second moment in time where the contamination removal device does not remove the contamination material from the surface of the imaging member.
