The invention relates to a method for the optimal positioning of veneer sheets at a lay-up station, wherein the veneer sheets are attached for a veneer assembly composed of veneer sheets glued on top of each other. The method comprises determining an optimal position for each veneer sheet and a location for virtual alignment edges and laying up the veneer sheets as positioned in accordance with the virtual alignment edges, for a veneer assembly.

Method for the optimal alignment of veneer sheets at a lay-up station

An apparatus is provided for receiving and positioning veneers fed by a conveyor belt. The apparatus includes grippers controlled to be independently movable, for gripping the veneers, and detection means for detecting the location and/or position of the veneers on a conveyor belt. At least one gripper is disposed on both sides of the feeding direction center line of the veneer. The grippers are arranged to reciprocate at least in the feeding direction of the veneers, to grip each successive veneer on its leading edge side, and to align the leading edge side of the veneer to correspond to the position of the veneer in the veneer assembly, in response to information provided by the detection means.

Apparatus for receiving and positioning veneers fed in a position with camera

The invention relates to squeeze pressing of a laid-up veneer assembly having glue applied as glue stripes. The pressing in the method is subjected to the assembly as two uniform fronts advancing in opposite directions from the central area of the assembly. A press for implementing the method comprises press plates to be pressed together, at least one press plate being equipped with a sub-pressing plate extending as an arch at the central area of the press plate to the press opening.

Veneer lay-up squeezing

An apparatus for applying glue onto a moving, plane object comprises inlet pipes of the glues a dispenser extending across the path of travel of the object of the dispensing, dispensing nozzles of the glue and means for controllably opening and interrupting the glue flow to the nozzles. The means for interrupting the flow comprise a cylindrical case formed into the frame of the dispenser, extending along the total length thereof, inlet channels for the glue leading to the case, nozzle channels leading out from the case and a pipe element mounted into the case with a sliding fit, said pipe element being equipped with openings for forming a flow connection between the inlet channels of the glue and the nozzle channels in one position of the pipe element with respect to the frame and for closing said flow connection in the second position of the pipe element with respect to the frame.

Apparatus for applying glue onto an advancing planar object

Apparatus for applying glue to veneer sheets comprises elements () for transporting veneer sheets (), supported substantially in a horizontal position, to the gluing, a glue applying device () for administering glue onto the veneer traveling under it, as well as elements () for directing the glued veneers (), supported substantially in a horizontal position, to a further processing, said conveying elements being located with respect to each other so as to leave in the direction of transport a transfer gap aligned with the glue administering device (). The device further includes means for forcing the veneer to be glued and the glued veneer at its center portion in the direction of transport to a different level than the edge portions thereof in the direction of transport.
