An inverter device of an electric drive device may be configured to convert a direct voltage of an intermediate circuit of the electric drive device into a multi-phase alternating current to operate an electric motor of the electric drive device. A safety signal may be received by a control unit of the electric drive device, which instructs the control unit to operate the electric motor in a safe operating mode and to discharge the intermediate circuit at same time. If an active short circuit mode is preset, the inverter device is controlled to operate the electric motor in the active short circuit mode and to discharge the intermediate circuit in the discharge mode. If a freewheel mode is preset, the inverter device is controlled to operate the electric motor in the freewheel mode and, upon satisfaction of a current criterion, controlled to discharge the intermediate circuit in the discharge mode.

Method for operating an inverter device of an electric drive device, control unit, electric drive device and motor vehicle

A method, by a control device, to activate an active discharge circuit to discharge a capacitive energy storage of at least one electrical consumer of an on-board power supply for a motor vehicle. An energy source for the on-board power supply can be coupled to the on-board power supply and be disconnected from the on-board power supply by a switching device. The control device receives a signal (S) for activating the active discharge circuit, examines, after receiving the signal (S), if the energy source is disconnected from the on-board power supply according to at least one first criterion, and activates the active discharge circuit only upon satisfaction of a condition that the energy source has been disconnected from the on-board power supply according to the at least one first criterion.

An apparatus for actively discharging at least one DC link capacitor, comprising at least one half-bridge circuit having a high-side transistor and a low-side transistor, wherein the half-bridge circuit is arranged in parallel with the DC link capacitor, wherein a voltage divider comprising at least two resistors is arranged in parallel with the DC link capacitor, wherein a tap of the voltage divider is connected to at least one differentiator, wherein at least one driver module for generating gate driver signals is assigned to the half-bridge circuit, and at least one control unit, wherein the control unit is designed in such a way that, in an active discharge mode, at least one transistor of the half-bridge circuit is controlled as a function of an output signal of the differentiator, as well as to an associated method.
