A measuring device is releasably received within a winding core of a customer roll wound on a slitter-winder (). The measuring device () is releasably fastened within the winding core by fastening element(s) () securing the device to the winding core () for rotation during winding of the fiber web around the winding core to form the customer roll. Eccentricity of the customer roll as it is wound is determined from movement, speed and/or acceleration data received from at least two sensors of the measuring device and data is stored for use in unwinding the fiber web from the customer roll and serving as control information. Tension variations in unwinding can thus be anticipated and premeditative steps taken to ensure smooth running of the fiber web in unwinding in further processing.

A slitter-winder for winding of pulp webs or corresponding webs with a thickness of at least 0.5 mm, in which the winder is a two-drum winder having two winding drums on support of which at least two pulp web rolls are wound. At least one of the winding drums is a nip acceptance winding drum (NAWD), that is a winding drum with a cover having a hardness of 40-80 Shore A and a thickness of 3-50 mm. The winding drums and a steel core or a shaft of the at least two pulp web rolls have parallel rotation axes and are in a rolling contact where the at least one winding drum is driven.

An arrangement of attenuating the vibration in a roll assembly of a fiber web machine, in which assembly the roll () being rotatably suspended at its end on bearings in bearing housings (), and the bearing housings being supported on the frame or the foundation of the machine via viscoelastic intermediate piece or pieces (). The loss factor of the intermediate piece is greater than 0.1 at the normal operating conditions of the roll at a frequency range, which is &#xb1;10% calculated from the lowest bending eigenfrequency of the roll, and in the each end of the roll the spring constant of the total influence of the intermediate piece or pieces is in the range of 0.04 GN/m-1 GN/m.

Arrangement for attenuating vibration of a roll assembly

The structure of a fibrous web roll is controlled by winding a fibrous web (W) into a fibrous web roll () through a winding nip (N) between the fibrous web roll () being formed and a winding drum (). The structure of the fibrous web roll () being formed is controlled by regulating the direction of passing the web to a windup, thereby regulating the wrap angle.

In a method for determining the radial modulus of elasticity of paper or a corresponding web-like material that can be reeled or wound on a reel, the connection between the force and deflection of a material arranged in layers is measured. A method for winding a paper web in which the paper web is wound by a winder or equivalent winding apparatus onto a roll and the running speed of the winder is controlled based on the frequency of rotation of the roll so that when the frequency of rotation of the roll approaches a range of oscillation, i.e., a range of frequency of rotation of the roll in which intensive oscillation occurs, the running speed is lowered quickly so that the frequency of rotation of the roll is reduced to a level lower than the lower frequency of the range of oscillation. Thereafter, the running speed of the winder is increased so that the frequency of rotation of the roll remains substantially constant until, e.g., the running speed of the winder prior to the reduction thereof as the frequency of rotation of the roll approached the range of oscillation is reached.
