An internal size and a method for sizing board, such as liquid packaging board, with a hydrophobising internal size containing oxetanon derivative or 2-oxetanon. The main part of the hydrocarbon chains R' and R&#x2033; of the oxetanon derivative or 2-oxetanon are derived from linear fatty acids, and &#x2266;20 w-%, typically 2 to 15 w-%, most typically 5 to 12 w-% of the hydrocarbon chains are derived from branched and mainly saturated fatty acids.

The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a paper of multi-color ink-jet printable grade. A proper hydrophicity for the paper is secured by using an 2-oxetanone size in the appropriate sizing steps. The size is made from non-branched and branched-chain fatty acids having main chain comprising 6-22 carbons linked with each other by saturated bonds.

The invention is particularly applicable for improving the water repellency of paper containing calcium carbonate as the filler.
