A method and device for position determination, in which one or more application () requests a positioning method selection device () for positioning data. The positioning method selection device provides an application with positioning data using one or more positioning method (to) in accordance with settings defined by the application and/or the user. The positioning method selection device () receives a positioning request from an application (), forms a parameter or parameters indicating the quality of positioning requested by the application, compares the quality of positioning data provided by the positioning methods with the positioning quality required by the application, and sends positioning data to the application () in response to the positioning request.

Method and device for position determination

The invention relates to a method of transferring required messages for acquiring a temporary MAC address in a wireless local area network. In a first device in the local area network, a first identifier is determined to identify the first device. A message comprising the first identifier is transmitted from the first device to a second device to arrange a temporary MAC address. A response message relating to the acquisition of the MAC address and comprising the first identifier is transmitted from the second device to the first device. The first device identifies on the basis of the first identifier that the response message is intended for it.

Addressing in wireless local area networks

A wireless intranet office (WIO) concept is disclosed, which integrates an IP based Intranet environment () and GSM network providing mobile telephones () with access to GSM through the GSM network or via the intranet. Access through the intranet to the GSM MSC () is provided by a WIO interworking unit () which may comprise several network entities (e.g. intranet mobile cluster (), intranet location register (), WIO gatekeeper (), WIO gateway () and H.323 gateway). A dual mode terminal for such a system is also disclosed.
