In order to reduce the HS-SCCH overhead, a fixed time allocation approach could be used. In that case, the scheduling time of each VoIP user is semi-static and thus there is no need to transmit e.g. HS-SCCH toward the UE for the initial transmissions, if the UE knows when to receive data on the HS-DSCH and what transport format is used. There are at least two ways of implementing this: 1) HS-SCCH/E-DPCCH signalling to indicate parameters of a first transmission, with subsequent transmissions using the same parameters (and HS-SCCH/E-DPCCH always sent when changes needed), or 2) fixed allocation, RRC signalling used to allocate users and tell the default transport parameters.

Apparatus and method for scheduling packets

A method, apparatus, system, network element, and software product are used to provide a traffic signal, such as a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) signal, via high speed packet access. Data transmission method and equipment

A method for transmitting from a multi-antenna station and a multi-antenna station is provided. The station is provided with a reference antenna and a diversity antenna. During the operation of the method, one of the antennae is selected to be stronger in the event of power unbalance between the diversity and reference antennae. Greater transmission power is assigned for the diversity antenna than the reference antenna when the diversity antenna is only phase adjusted. Greater transmission power is assigned for the reference antenna than the diversity antenna when the reference antenna is amplitude adjusted.

Transmissions from a station with multiple antennae

The use of the STTD is enabled in a network so that the common channels (CPICH etc.) do not need to be transmitted using transmit diversity, but the STTD can be enabled only for channels having dedicated pilots and which are intended for the UEs supporting this functionality. Other UEs not supporting transmit diversity can use the common channels as usual. In normal transmit diversity operation the UE will use the CPICH transmitted from both antennas as a phase reference. In the proposed method some of the common channels including CPICH are transmitted without transmit diversity even though the STTD is used on channels having dedicated pilots and which are intended for the UEs supporting this functionality.

The present invention presents a method and apparatus for phase hopping and space-time coding signals for transmission on multiple antennas. The method and apparatus provides expansion of a N&times;N&prime; space time block code to a M&times;M&prime; space time block code, where M>N, by using phase hopping on the symbols within the N&times;N&prime; space time block code to allow transmission of the space time block code on a number of diversity antennas greater than N&prime;. A result of M antenna diversity may be achieved for M transmit antennas.
