An apparatus and a method are provided. The provided solution includes an apparatus including a transceiver to be in wireless connection with one or more sets of user equipment and a controller configured to connect to the Internet, set up a virtual point-to-point connection to a second apparatus, set up and provide end-to-end call services using the virtual point-to-point connection between user equipment which are connected to and served by the apparatuses.

Apparatus and method of providing end-to-end call services

A random access procedure for use by a UE wireless communication terminal in communicating with a base station (or Node-B or eNB) of a radio access network, and in particular a E-UTRA network. A random access preamble is sent by the UE via RACH separate and prior to a random access message burst, which is sent on SCH but not until the UE receives one or more messages indicating an acknowledgment of the preamble and providing an allocation on SCH for use in transmitting the message burst, and also providing a preamble identifier, which the radio access network can then use to request retransmission of the message burst if necessary.

Establishment of new base station in cellular network

A method, apparatus, and computer program for continuing transmission during handover are presented. A communication connection is established between a source base station and a mobile relay base station comprising a distributed antenna system (DAS). The DAS includes multiple spatially distributed antenna units (DAUs), wherein at least part of the DAUs are used for forming a cluster of sub-cells within a coverage area of the mobile relay base station and at least part of the DAUs are used for communicating with a fixed cellular network infrastructure over multiple backhaul links. A first backhaul link is then handed over from the source base station to a target base station. After the handover, data transfer between the source base station and at least one backhaul link still linked to the source base station is continued, and remaining backhaul link(s) are released from the source base station according to a determined criterion.

Handing over relayed connections in mobile environment

A simple and effective mechanism is shown to determine and utilize information about idle user equipment which received MBMS services for purposes of audience monitoring. The implementation can be done by defining a new information element (IE) for a proposed MBMS status information and embedding the new IE into a UE-originated message of a network control signaling procedure, e.g., RRC Connection Request which may be sent at the convenience of the UE when it transitions from the idle state to the active state for its own purposes, i.e., purposes primarily other than audience monitoring.

The present invention concerns mobility management. A method is proposed that involves obtaining mobility management properties for a plurality of terminals served by an access node, as well as grouping the plurality of terminals into groups based on correlating the obtained mobility management properties of the plurality of terminals. Decisions on the necessity for a handover are taken per group and then forwarded per group to a target access node. Also, a corresponding apparatus is proposed.

Providing connections to terminals in an access node of a first network. A message is received in the access node from a terminal, the message including capability information of the terminal. The terminal is identified in the access node on the basis of the received capability information as an intermediary node capable of relaying traffic between the first network and a second network. Parameters for a connection between the access node and the terminal are determined in the access node on the basis of the identification of the terminal as intermediary node and used in establishing the connection between the access node and the terminal.

A frequency error correction scheme applicable in a receiver of a mobile telecommunication system is presented. The present frequency error correction scheme is carried out in a time domain after an equalization process. The present frequency error correction scheme may be applied to a base station receiving signals transmitted according to a single-carrier frequency division multiple access communication scheme. The separation of different received signals for further processing is carried out in the frequency domain before the equalization and the frequency error correction.

Frequency offset correction

An apparatus includes a radio frequency receiver and a timing adjustment unit that contains at least two channel impulse response estimators. The at least two channel impulse response estimators include an on-time estimator and at least one of an early estimator and a late estimator. A method includes determining if a user equipment has a need to establish uplink synchronization with a base station. In response to determining that the user equipment has the need to establish uplink synchronization with the base station, a determination is made if uplink resources are available on a non-contention-based channel for the user equipment. In response to determining that uplink resources are available on the non-contention-based channel for the user equipment, the uplink resources are dedicated on the non-contention-based channel to the user equipment and an indication of the dedicated uplink resources is communicated to the user equipment. Using at least the uplink resources, the user equipment is synchronized on the non-contention-based channel in order to receive information from the user equipment.
