A mobile irrigation system comprising a control system and an active pest deterrent system. The control system includes a data transfer module for transmitting communication signals over an external network and a first internal network communication element for transmitting communication signals over an internal mobile irrigation system network. The active pest deterrent system includes a pest deterrent device configured to deter pests from remaining in the field, the pest deterrent device including a controller configured to activate the pest deterrent device and a second internal network communication element communicatively coupling the controller to the control system via the internal mobile irrigation system network.

The overcurrent protection system includes a number of control panels each including a controller configured to generate a motor control signal for activating one of the motors of the mobile irrigation system, transmit the motor control signal to the motor, determine a current magnitude of electrical current passing through a motor power branch line electrically connected to the motor, and restrict current to the motor if the current magnitude is above a current magnitude threshold. The controller is further configured to set the current magnitude threshold according to one of a plurality of motor operation stages. The current magnitude threshold can also be set remotely.

The control system includes a position switch configured to be triggered and transmit a trigger signal and a controller configured to receive the trigger signal from the position switch. Upon receiving the trigger signal, the controller is configured to determine whether a current position of the mobile irrigation system equates to an auto-reverse position. If the current position equates to the auto-reverse position, the controller is configured to transmit a reverse direction signal to a drive motor of one of the mobile irrigation towers to reverse direction so that the drive motor reverses direction.

An alignment control system for controlling an alignment of a plurality of mobile towers, each mobile tower supporting a section of conduit in an irrigation system comprises a plurality of tower angle measurement devices and a control processing element. Each tower angle measurement device is associated with a successive one of the mobile towers and is configured to measure an angle value which varies according to a rotation angle of the associated mobile tower relative to one or more of the other mobile towers. The control processing element is configured or programmed to receive the angle value from each tower angle measurement device, compare the angle value to a threshold angle value, and generate and transmit control signals, data, or both that include an activation hysteresis value to a drive motor associated with each mobile tower that has an angle value greater than the threshold angle value.

A method for controlling a plurality of mobile agricultural devices that includes establishing electronic communication with a plurality of transceivers mounted to the mobile agricultural devices. The method also includes building a three-dimensional model including a virtual representation of each of the mobile agricultural devices and displaying the three-dimensional model at a user interface having a display. The method further includes receiving location data regarding the mobile agricultural devices via the transceivers and adjusting at least one of the virtual representations of the mobile agricultural devices within the model to reflect the location data. A center-pivot irrigation system having mobile towers interconnected by spans actuatable about a center-pivot, constant speed motors for each of the mobile towers, and variable gear ratio transmissions each driven by one of the constant speed motors and each driving one of the mobile towers. The irrigation system may also include a control system sending command signals to the variable gear ratio transmissions, independently increasing or decreasing a speed of the mobile towers via the variable gear ratio transmissions. The irrigation system may also include a sensors for providing alignment information regarding the spans to the control system. The control system may independently command the transmissions to speed up or slow down one of the mobile towers relative to alignment information received from the sensors.

A method for controlling a plurality of mobile agricultural devices that includes establishing electronic communication with a plurality of transceivers mounted to the mobile agricultural devices and building a model including a virtual representation of each of the mobile agricultural devices. The method also includes displaying the model at a user interface including a display and a gesture sensor. The method further includes receiving location data regarding the mobile agricultural devices via the transceivers and adjusting at least one of the virtual representations of the mobile agricultural devices within the model to reflect the location data. The method still further includes receiving, via the gesture sensor of the user interface, a user input comprising a command relating to operation of a first one of the mobile agricultural devices and transmitting the user input command to one of the transceivers, which is mounted to the first mobile agricultural device, so as to implement a change in operation of the first mobile agricultural device.
