A treadmill has a front or rear set of pulleys and a looped running belt. The pulleys rotate with the movement of the belt, e.g., when a user walks, jogs, or runs on the treadmill. The pulleys are mounted on a rotating roller tube so that the roller tube rotates with the pulleys. The roller tube is mounted on a stationary shaft using bearings on each side and a one-way device that allows the pulleys to rotate in one direction. The rotation direction corresponds to the movement of the top of the belt from the front to the rear of the treadmill. The one-way device prevents the pulleys from rotating in the opposite direction, preventing the top of the belt from moving from the rear of the treadmill to the front. The one-way device may be a sprag clutch. The treadmill may be a motor-less, curved treadmill.

Exercise treadmill

A cart is disclosed which is capable of being wheeled to a vehicle and mounted thereon through a mount secure coupling attached to the cart and a secure receiver attached to the vehicle. Upon secure attachment to the vehicle, the carts undercarriage assembly including wheels are capable of being retracted into the top deck assembly of the cart. Therefore, the vehicle maintains clearance from the road even after the cart is attached. Upon reaching a destination, the undercarriage of the cart is lowered and the cart is detached from the vehicle. The cart is then able to be wheeled away. The cart allows for transportation of loads without the need for the operator to actually carry either the load or the cart at any stage from start to finish or perform any additional steps to safe and securely attach the cart to the vehicle.

Attachable cart system and method

An exercise system has an elongate rigid housing, and an elongate extension arm mounted via a pivot to a bottom end of the elongate rigid housing. A first pulley system is rotatably mounted to a fixed position of the elongate rigid housing. An adjustable mounting mechanism is mounted on the elongate rigid housing. A second pulley system is rotatably mounted on the adjustable mounting mechanism so that the second pulley system can be moved relative to the first pulley system, thereby adjusting the distance between the first pulley system and the second pulley system. An elastic cord extends back and forth between the first and second pulley systems, around the arm pulley of the elongate extension arm, and to a free end that may be used for performing exercises.

Weight bearing exercise system

An exercise machine has a base housing, a boom having an elongate rigid body that extends from a proximal end to a distal end, and a pivot mount which pivotally mounts the proximal end of the boom on the base housing such that the boom is able to pivot with respect to the base housing between a rowing configuration wherein the boom is generally horizontal, and a skiing configuration wherein the boom is generally vertical. A seat element is slidably mounted on the boom, and ski handles attached to a ski cable which extend through ski handle stops at the distal end of the boom. A row handle is also attached to a row cable that extends from the base housing. The exercise machine further includes a resistance device, and a transmission system that connects the ski cable and the row cable to the resistance device.

An elliptical machine has a frame and an operating linkage between the frame and foot supports. Each side of the operating linkage comprises five links that are connected with five pin joints. A foot support is connected to each side of the operating linkage with each of the five pin joints being positioned forward of the foot support.

Articulating linkage exercise machine

An elliptical exercise machine features a pair of translating members to which a pair of foot members is axially secured. The foot members each pivots with respect to the associated translating member. The generated motion allows a user to lock a knee before beginning downward movement and allows a user to bend the same knee before beginning forward movement such that the motion is more natural for the user.

Elliptical exercise machine

A stationary exercise machine includes a system for electronically controlling a pedal resistance so as to simulate the riding of a road-going bicycle. The exercise machine includes a control system that monitors pedal velocity and that controls the resistive load generated by an electronically-controlled resistance mechanism. In one example, an electromagnetic device may vary a resistive load placed on a flywheel, which, in turn, varies the pedal resistance experienced by a user. When the user increases the pedal velocity, the resistance mechanism increases the resistive load. When the user decreases the pedal velocity, the resistance mechanism decreases the resistive load. In another example, the resistance mechanism varies the resistive load based on a gear selection by the user. The control system may also take into account other factors, such as the grade of the simulated ride, simulated wind resistance, or other frictional forces when calculating the resistive load.

System and method for electronically controlling resistance of an exercise machine

An exercise machine has a frame and an operating linkage. The operating linkage includes any of a number of mechanisms that can adjust a foot trace generated by the linkage. In one configuration, the foot trace can be adjusted between at least a generally vertical trace and a generally horizontal trace.
