A computer-implemented method for determining a level of confidence that a payment transaction is not fraudulent is provided. The method is implemented using an assurance exchange (AE) computer device in communication with a memory. The method includes receiving authentication data associated with a candidate payment transaction being conducted by a cardholder via a website associated with a merchant from the merchant, storing the authentication data, receiving an authorization request message for the candidate payment transaction from a payment processor, retrieving the authentication data for the candidate payment transaction based on the authorization request message, and calculating an assurance level score based on the authentication data and the authorization request message. The assurance level score represents a level of confidence that the candidate payment transaction is not fraudulent. The method also includes transmitting the authorization request message including the assurance level score to an issuer processor.

System and methods for enhanced approval of a payment transaction

A computer-based method for communicating liability acceptance for payment card transactions is provided. The method uses a computer device including a processor and a memory. The method includes receiving, by the processor, a transaction authorization request message for a payment card transaction having a default-liable party. The transaction authorization request message includes a shifted-liability acceptance indicator identifying a different party to the transaction that accepts liability for the payment card transaction. The method also includes authorizing the payment card transaction based at least in part on the shifted-liability acceptance indicator. The shifted-liability acceptance indicator changes the liability for the payment card transaction from the default-liable party to the different party accepting liability.

Systems and methods for communicating liability acceptance with payment card transactions

An input device associated with a user and an issuer computer system associated with an issuer are coupled to an interchange computer system associated with a network interchange. The interchange computer system is configured to authenticate an identity of a user of a transaction card as a legitimate cardholder. More specifically, the interchange computer system is configured to receive a registration request from the user using the input device wherein the registration request includes an account number or a name associated with the transaction card, generate an authentication message in response to the registration request, transmit the authentication message to an issuer of the transaction card wherein the issuer provides the authentication message to the user, and receive the authentication message from the user entering the authentication message into the input device to authenticate the identity of the user as the legitimate cardholder.

Systems and methods for authenticating an identity of a user of a transaction card

A method and system for creating an assurance level based on authentication data attributes using a computer device coupled to a database are provided. The method includes receiving an authorization request associated with the financial transaction from the sender, the authorization request including a fraud risk assessment of the financial transaction determined by the sender using an authentication response received from the computer device by the sender, the authorization request including one or more reason codes associated with the sender fraud risk assessment. The method further includes transmitting the received authorization request to an issuer associated with the cardholder.

Systems and methods for risk based decisioning

A service provider computer receives a request for a transfer of funds from a sender to a recipient. The service provider computer makes a data record about the transaction available to a receiving financial institution. The receiving financial institution receives a visit from the recipient, issues a new payment card account to the recipient, and communicates the account number for the new account to the service provider computer. The service provider computer initiates a payment transaction in a payment card system to route the requested funds transfer from a payment card account belonging to the sender to the newly issued payment card account for the recipient.

Remittance system with improved service for unbanked individuals

A system and computer-based method for performing a financial transaction using an interchange computer coupled to a database, the interchange computer and database associated with an interchange network, the transaction initiated by a cardholder with a merchant. The method includes receiving, at the interchange computer, a payer authentication request message from the merchant, the payer authentication request message associated with the cardholder and including data representing at least one of transaction card brands supported for payment, a response time limit, and item purchase information. The cardholder is prompted to enter access credential information. The entered access credential information is verified at the interchange computer. The cardholder is prompted to select a transaction card from one or more transaction cards associated with the cardholder. A payer authentication response message including transaction card data associated with the selected transaction card is transmitted from the interchange computer to the merchant.

Methods and systems for performing a financial transaction

A method for communicating financial transaction data between a plurality of computer devices using an interface module and an enhanced protocol is provided. The transaction is initiated by a cardholder at an input terminal using a transaction card for completing a purchase from a merchant. The method includes receiving at the interface module initial identification (ID) data from a merchant computer wherein the interface module is a computer module separate from the merchant computer, generating a first verification enrollment request (VEReq) message based on the initial ID data that includes at least one of a merchant identifier and an account number, transmitting the first VEReq message, receiving a verification enrollment response (VERes) message affirmatively verifying enrollment of the merchant in an express check out program, and generating at the interface module a payer authentication request (PAReq) message using the enhanced protocol that defines a first set of data field extensions.
