Methods and systems are provided for making secure financial transactions, such as purchase payments, using rich Internet applications (RIA) running an RIA runtime (also referred to as a platform or framework) on the user's smart phone or other mobile device. Embodiments differ from the usual way of re-directing a user from a third-party application and authenticating the user by providing secure in-line payments from a rich Internet application running on an RIA runtime. A system includes: a mobile device executing a rich Internet application running on an RIA runtime; a payment library communicating with the RIA runtime and a service provider, for which the payment library communicates with the service provider to authenticate the rich Internet application; and in response to authentication by the service provider, facilitates secure financial transactions via the rich Internet application.

There is provided systems and method for an electronic payment to a non-Internet connected device. The methods include transmitting information corresponding to at least one item for sale at a non-Internet connected machine, receiving a purchase request from a user device for the at least one item from the non-Internet connected machine, and communicating, using a hardware processor of a payment provider server, an approval of the purchase request to the user device, wherein the user device is configured to transmit a purchase authorization to the non-Internet connected machine using a wireless connection.

Systems and methods described herein may enable a user to add an incentive displayed along with content on a networked television to a digital wallet associated with the user. The user may be capable of selecting the displayed incentive using a remote control in communication with the networked television, or using their mobile device which may be in direct communication with the networked television, or in communication with the networked television over a network. When the user selects the displayed incentive for storage in a digital wallet, the user may be prompted to authenticate to a provider associated with the digital wallet, wherein the authentication may be performed through the networked television using the remote control. The incentive may then be added to the user's digital wallet and may be used or applied when the user performs a transaction using the digital wallet.

The present disclosure involves a method of conducting a transaction. In one aspect, the method includes: displaying a media program on a media display device; indicating, while the media program is being displayed, an item associated with the media program is available for purchase; receiving authentication information of a prospective purchaser of the item; and completing a purchase of the item in response to the authentication information. In another aspect, the method includes: receiving, from a media display device, a user authentication request that contains user login credentials; granting the user authentication request in response to the user login credentials; and sending an authentication permission to the media display device; wherein the receiving and the sending are each performed such that the user login credentials and the authentication permission are sent through one or more intermediate hops without being inspected by any of the intermediate hops.
