There is provided a polymer comprising: (i) a repeat unit derived from a compound of formula (I) (Formula (I)) wherein, Rand Rare each independently selected from OH, OR', SH, SR&#x2032;, NH, NHR&#x2032; and NR&#x2032;; R&#x2032; is Chydrocarbyl; each n is independently 0 or an integer between 1 and 6; each m is independently 0 or an integer between 1 and 4, and preferably at least one m is 1; and q is an integer between 1 and 8; and; (ii) a biologically active molecule, wherein said biologically active molecule is covalently bonded to said repeat unit; as well as methods for preparing such polymers, particles comprising said polymers and uses of said polymers and particles including use in the treatment of disease.

At least one resonator is disclosed having a plurality of nanoscale resonator elements, the at least one resonator having at least two, different resonant frequencies and configured to provide at least two signals in response to an input signal and at least two adders configured to weight the signals with respective weights and to add weighted signals so as to produce an output signal.

Resonator

The present invention pertains to a sensor, suitable for use in the detection of an analyte in a fluid, comprising: a tube () defining a flow path for the fluid; a generally planar member () mounted in the flow path (&#x2192;) such that the plane is in the direction of flow, wherein the member has, bound thereto, a ligand that interacts with the analyte, wherein interaction causes the member to flex; and means () for the detection of the flexing.

Sensor

A memory element comprising nanomagnets having a rotational symmetry selected in order to provide high remanence and a suitable coercivity. There is also a sensor element comprising nanomagnets having a rotational symmetry selected such that they are superparamagnetic and exhibit substantially zero hysteresis so that a magnetisation of the nanomagnets depends only on the current value of applied field and not on the field history.

Magnetic materials

An opto-mechanical device is constituted by an optically responsive actuating member in which a mechanical strain occurs in response to changes in its illumination. The actuating member is preferably at least partly formed from a semiconducting glassy matrix such as a chalcogenide glass. Preferably the opto-mechanical device illuminates the actuating member with light which is preferably plane polarized. Preferably it also varies the polarization angle of the plane polarized light to cause a change in the strain generated in the actuating member.
