A method, apparatus, and program product model an oilfield asset by selecting, for each of multiple sectors of the oilfield asset, a sector model from among a collection of sector models, building a multi-resolution integrated asset model of the oilfield asset using the selected sector model for each of the sectors, and performing a computer simulation using the multi-resolution integrated asset model. The collection of sector models for each sector includes multiple sector models modeled at varying resolutions. In addition, the multi-resolution integrated asset model includes a surface network model that couples the selected sector models to one another. As such, different sectors of an oilfield asset may be modeled at varying resolutions to balance accuracy and turnaround time when performing integrated oilfield asset modeling.

Integrated oilfield asset modeling using multiple resolutions of reservoir detail

A method for raycasting based on an irregular grid. The method includes raycasting, in a static mode, rays based on the irregular grid to generate a static image of a three dimensional (3D) volume dataset. The 3D volume dataset includes irregular grid cells based on the irregular grid. The method further includes reducing a tally of the rays to generate a reduced tally of rays based on a rendering time of the static image and an animation frame rate, and generating, in a dynamic mode, an animation of the 3D volume dataset at the animation frame rate by at least performing raycasting based on the reduced tally of rays.

Efficient algorithms for volume visualization on irregular grids

A method can include receiving fluid saturation data for fluid saturation parameters associated with permeabilities of a multidimensional spatial model of a geologic environment; adjusting at least a portion of the fluid saturation data to provide adjusted fluid saturation data by optimizing a quadratic function subject to linear constraints; and simulating flow of fluid using the adjusted fluid saturation data for fluid saturation parameters associated with permeabilities and the multidimensional spatial model of the geologic environment.

Saturation end-point adjustment

A method, system, and computer-readable medium for providing a visualization of a model. The method includes receiving a grid of the model including cells representing space, time, or both in the model. The method also includes grouping at least some of the cells into first-level gridlets. The method also includes grouping at least some of the first-level gridlets into second-level gridlets. The method further includes determining a first upper limit of elements to send for display, based on a display system capability, and determining that the number of first-level gridlets exceeds the first upper limit, and that the number of second-level gridlets is less than or equal to the first upper limit. In response, the method includes selecting at least some of the second-level gridlets for display and omitting from display at least some of the cells and at least some of the first-level gridlets.

Interactive visualization of reservoir simulation data sets

A method of modeling a nonlinear hysteresis response of reservoir media involves obtaining measurements of core samples from the reservoir to generate a multitude of bounding curves representing primary drainage and primary imbibition characteristics of a reservoir, generating, using a processor, a plurality of constitutive equations based on the multitude of bounding curves and a multitude of material functions, the multitude of material functions determined based on material properties associated with the reservoir, generating, using the processor, an output in a form of capillary-pressure scanning curves based on the multitude of constitutive equations, the capillary-pressure scanning curves representing drainage and imbibition behaviors of the reservoir during an oilfield operation, and storing the output.
