The disclosure pertains to improvements in a gamma radiation source, typically containing low-density alloys or compounds or composites of iridium in mechanically deformable and compressible configurations, within an encapsulation, and methods of manufacture thereof.

Low density iridium and low density stacks of iridium disks

The disclosure pertains to a strontium-90 sealed radiological or radioactive source, such as may be used with treatment of the eye or other medical or industrial processes. The sealed radiological source includes a radiological insert within an encapsulation. The encapsulation may include increased shielding in the center thereof.

Strontium sealed source

The disclosure pertains to a strontium-90 sealed radiological or radioactive source, such as may be used with treatment of the eye or other medical or industrial processes. The sealed radiological source includes a toroidal shaped strontium radiological insert within an encapsulation. The encapsulation includes increased shielding in the center thereof.

The disclosure pertains to a radiation source, such as an active insert, typically containing porous or microporous iridium or compounds, alloys or composites thereof within an encapsulation, and methods of manufacture thereof. The porosity or microporosity or low-density alloying ingredient with iridium causes a reduced density of the iridium within the active insert to be achieved.

Low density porous iridium

This disclosure pertains to a gamma radiation source, including enriched Iridium-191 and Boron-11. Some embodiments may include alloying. Some embodiments may include sintering. The resulting disk, adapted for radiological sources, typically has a reduced attenuation and a reduced cost, due to the reduction in the use of Iridium-191. Substitutes for boron include aluminum, silicon, vanadium, titanium, nickel, platinum, phosphorus and/or combinations thereof.

Device and method for enhanced iridium gamma radiation sources

The disclosure pertains to a radiation source, typically containing low-density microbeads of iridium or compounds thereof within an encapsulation, and methods of manufacture thereof.

Low density spherical iridium source

A neutron sealed source holds cermet wire sources, such as Californium-252/Palladium wires, in separate blind apertures within a stainless steel block. The stainless steel block is part of an inner encapsulation and includes blind apertures arranged in rotational symmetry for receiving the cermet wire sources. The cermet wire sources are separated from each other and the fission and decay heat is rejected through the stainless steel block.

Neutron sealed source

The present disclosure relates to an insoluble cesium mixed multimetal oxide, ceramic, glass-ceramic or glass which is intended to be a replacement for cesium chloride or similar materials used as radiation sources. Additionally, this insoluble compound could replace other insoluble lower specific activity cesium compounds used in industrial, underwater, and underground/downhole application because it would allow the use of older lower specific activity cesium stock solutions. The disclosure further provides a method for the cesium to be recovered from cesium chloride sources.

In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, there is provided an electrostatic chuck. The electrostatic chuck comprises a surface layer activated by a voltage in an electrode to form an electric charge to electrostatically clamp a substrate to the electrostatic chuck. The surface layer includes a plurality of polymer protrusions and a charge control layer to which the plurality of polymer protrusions adhere, the plurality of polymer protrusions extending to a height above portions of the charge control layer surrounding the plurality of polymer protrusions to support the substrate upon the plurality of polymer protrusions during electrostatic clamping of the substrate.
