A transformer assembly includes a housing, a core within an interior of the housing, and at least one winding positioned around the core. The at least one winding and the core are mounted to the housing with potting material. At least a portion of a fluid circuit is defined within at least one wall of the housing. The at least the portion of the fluid circuit is defined through an opening in the at least one wall of the housing in fluid communication with the interior of the housing. A transformer assembly includes a housing, a core within an interior of the housing, at least one winding positioned around the core, and a fluid circuit defined at least partially within at least one wall of the housing being configured such that heat is transferred to the fluid from at least one of the core and the at least one winding.

Hybrid thermal management of electronics

An inductor assembly includes a housing including a base, a sidewall, and an insert. The base and the sidewall define a cavity and the insert being positioned within the cavity. A core assembly is positioned within the cavity. The core assembly includes a core and a plurality of windings wrapped about the core and disposed between the sidewall and the insert. A flow path is formed in the housing for receiving a coolant to remove heat from the core assembly.

Thermal management of high power inductors

A conductor assembly can include one or more conductors formed by a conductive material, and one or more filter cores formed integrally on and at least partially around the one or more conductors. The one or more filter cores can be formed of a material different than the conductive material and can be configured to reduce electromagnetic emissions from the one or more conductors.

Generator housings for generators of aircraft are provided. The generator housings include a mounting pad at a first end, the generator housing extending to a second end, and a base arranged to connect to an electronics module. The generator housing defines a generator cavity and a flow path to supply a working fluid through the generator housing, the flow path extending between an inlet formed in the mounting pad and at least one outlet formed in the mounting pad. One or more electronics flow ports enable fluid connection between the flow path within the generator housing and the electronic module when connected and one or more inductor ports enable fluid connection between the flow path within the generator housing and one or more inductors when mounted to the generator housing.

Aircraft generator systems and housings thereof

An inductor housing for housing an inductor having a core and a winding includes an outer annular wall and a third wall extending inward from the outer annular wall such that the outer annular wall and the third wall at least partially define an annular cavity configured to receive the inductor. The inductor housing further includes an attachment feature configured to couple the inductor housing to a secondary housing. The inductor is configured to be enclosed within the annular cavity and the secondary housing, and coolant from a coolant supply is configured to flow past the annular cavity and contact the winding of the inductor.

Systems and methods for cooling toroidal magnetics

A variable speed, constant frequency (VSCF) generator system is provided and includes a generator portion, a first cooling circuit and a second cooling circuit. The generator portion includes a generator, electronics configured to control operations of the generator and a housing to house the generator and the electronics. The first cooling circuit is provided such that first fluid exiting the generator passes through a first cooling element prior to returning to the generator. The second cooling circuit is provided such that second fluid exiting the electronics passes through a second cooling element prior to being pumped back toward the electronics.

Variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) generator system

A fluid cooled cold plate includes a main coolant passage with a first cross-sectional area taken laterally in a direction perpendicular to the flow direction and a finned coolant passage having a second cross-sectional area taken laterally in a direction perpendicular to the flow direction, with the second area smaller than the first area. Fluidly connecting the main coolant passage with the finned coolant passage is a branch oriented such that a fluid is turned 90&#xb0; or more when passing into the branch from the main coolant passage. Also included is a coolant bypass passage in fluid communication with the main coolant passage and located fluidically parallel to the finned coolant passage.

A system for protecting electronics includes a printed wiring assembly (PWA) having a surface with at least one electronic component. The system also includes a water resistant film configured to be used as a conformal coating on the PWA and further configured to be placed on the surface of the PWA and to shrink about the at least one electronic component.

An immersion cooling arrangement includes a housing containing a liquid coolant. An electrical device is submerged within the liquid coolant. A printed wiring board is seated on the housing and separates the coolant from the environment external to the housing to provide penetration-free electrical communication between a power source and the electrical device.

An electrical connector interface comprises a plug connector assembly, a receptacle connector assembly, and an anti-rotation fastener receiving post. A plurality of spaced apart conductive contact sockets each have a mating end retained in a monolithic mating portion of a nonconductive plug connector shell body. A plurality of spaced apart conductive contact pins extend into a mating portion of a nonconductive receptacle connector shell body. The nonconductive plug and receptacle connector shell bodies each have an external mounting flange with a anti-rotation aperture. The anti-rotation fastener post has a first anti-rotation end insertable into either the plug anti-rotation aperture or the receptacle anti-rotation aperture.

High voltage connector interfaces

An AC-AC power converter supplies AC power to an AC motor having a plurality of motor windings and a case connected to a ground. The AC-AC power converter architecture includes an asymmetric phase shift autotransformer/rectifier unit (ATRU) that converts an AC input to a DC output, wherein the asymmetric phase shift ATRU generates a common-mode AC voltage across the asymmetric phase shift ATRU. The common mode voltage is diverted to ground through motor case parasitic capacitance via a common-mode voltage pull-down circuit connected between each phase of the ATRU AC input and the ground.

An electronics cooling system comprises a tubular fan duct and an electronics housing. The fan duct includes has a fan duct casing containing a fan with rotor blades and stator vanes. The electronics housing is mounted directly on the tubular fan duct, such that the electronics housing and the fan duct casing together enclose an interior space. A cooling airflow path extends from a high-pressure region of the tubular fan duct, through an inlet hole into the interior space, and out a bleed hole into a surrounding environment. The electronics cooling system further comprises three electronics mounts within the interior space. A first electronics mount is located immediately adjacent to the inlet hole, on the fan duct. A second electronics mount is located immediately radially outward of the stator vanes, on the fan duct. A third electronics mount is located immediately adjacent to the bleed hole, on the housing.

Integrated fan motor and controller housing

A cooling system for a transformer comprises a fan duct and a housing which together enclose an interior space. A transformer located in the interior space is mounted on the fan duct, and has a plurality of core sections surrounded by windings and separated by gaps. An air channeling structure is located between the transformer and the fan duct. A cooling airflow path extends through the air channeling structure, and between core sections of the transformer.
