The systems include a work fluid filter system for a transmission comprising: a canister filter arranged on an exterior of a transmission housing, the canister filter fluidically coupled to a suction side of a pump and a reservoir, wherein the canister filter receives work fluid directly from the reservoir via a pickup tube without a filter that is more coarse than the canister filter.

In one example, a system includes a shaft comprising one or more lubricant holes oriented radially within the shaft, and one or more gears positioned radially around a central axis of the shaft. The system further includes a ring positioned circumferentially around the shaft. The ring is shaped with a radially extending portion and an axially extending portion, wherein the radially extending portion may direct lubricant flow from the radially oriented lubricant holes toward the axially extending portion, and the axially extending portion directs lubricant flow from the lubricant holes in an axial direction towards the one or more gears. The axially extending portion and radially extending portion form a cut in the ring.

The system comprises a ring cap with a central aperture, a plurality of molding slides circularly arranged on a first side of the ring cap, a plurality of snap-fit arms and a plurality of pilot tabs positioned on a second side of the ring cap, where the plurality of pilot tabs and the plurality of snap-fit arms are arranged in concentric circles with the snap-fit arms forming an outer circle and the pilot tabs forming an inner circle, and where each pilot tab of the plurality of pilot tabs is positioned directly behind a corresponding snap-fit arm of the plurality of snap-fit arms. In one example, the system prevents metal to metal contact between a tone ring and a shaft during axle shaft installation.

In one example, the transmission system may include a pair of shielded bearings attached to a first transmission shaft, each of the shielded bearings including at least one shield that forms a restriction between the shield and a race of the bearing and a cavity positioned axially between the pair of shielded bearings, wherein the restrictions tune lubricant pressurization in the cavity. A method and system for an axle assembly are provided. The axle assembly, in one example, includes a cover at least partially circumferentially surrounding a shaft, a bearing coupled to the shaft and the cover, the bearing including an outer race, and a bearing adjuster including a first axial side adjacent to the outer race and configured to set a bearing preload and/or end play. The assembly further includes a lubricant seal spaced axially away from the bearing adjuster and sealing a lubricant bore and the lubricant bore traverses the cover and extends axially toward the bearing adjuster.

An axle assembly having a pair of axle half shafts and an axle housing defining a sump. The axle assembly further includes a first clutch assembly including a first half and a second half, wherein the first half is selectively engaged to the second half. The axle assembly also includes a second clutch assembly disposed adjacent to the first clutch assembly, wherein the second clutch includes a gear and the gear is selectively engaged with the second half of the first clutch assembly. Yet further, the axle assembly includes a lubrication pump mounted in the axle housing and drivingly coupled to the second clutch assembly; a spring mounted between the first half and the second half of the first clutch assembly; and a bearing disposed between the spring and the second half of the first clutch assembly.

The lubrication pump includes a fluid inlet port, a fluid outlet port, an air inlet port, and an air outlet valve; a pump housing interposed between the first end and the second end; a piston reservoir disposed in the pump housing, wherein the piston reservoir has a first side and a second side, wherein the second side is in fluid communication with the air inlet port; a piston disposed in the piston reservoir between the first side and the second side; a first check valve housed within the inlet port; a second check valve housed within the outlet port; and one or more biasing members interposed between the piston and the fluid inlet port and the fluid outlet port in the first side of the piston reservoir.
