The invention includes computer instructions that operate to receive an input corresponding to generation of a pattern in a computer aided design (CAD) solid model. Pattern is comprised of a number of features included within a boundary of the solid model. The instructions further operate to receive an indication of modification to the solid model. The instructions operate to automatically modify the solid model and its boundary based at least upon the received indication. The instructions further operate to automatically determine whether modification, if any, to at least one of pattern and number of features to be continuously included within the boundary of the modified solid model, is necessary, based at least upon the modified solid model and received input. Upon so determining, the instructions operate to cause the necessary modification to be effectuated. As a result, simplified modification of patterns of features in a CAD solid model is facilitated.

Method and apparatus for simplified patterning of features in a computer aided design (CAD) model

The invention includes computer instructions that operate to receive an indication of a modification of a geometry piece in a computer aided design (CAD) application. The geometry piece being of at least two segments and each of the two segments having a first length substantially equal to each other. The instructions further operate to automatically modify the two segments into at least two modified segments, where each of the two modified segments having a second length substantially equal to each other. The second length is based at least in part on the received indication of the modification of the geometry piece. As a result, maintaining segmentation of a geometry piece of a mechanical design is facilitated.

Maintaining segmentation of geometry pieces in a computer aided design (CAD) environment

Computer instructions that operate to view a display of geometric constraints associated with a selected piece of geometry of a mechanical design and to drag and manipulate multiple geometric constraints of multiple pieces of geometry associated with the selected piece of geometry, when executed, is disclosed. In one embodiment, the computer instructions are part of a mechanical design software application. In one embodiment, the mechanical software application including the computer instructions are embodied in a distribution storage medium.
