A heating and cooling system includes a heat exchange section to transfer heat between refrigerant and air in both a heating mode and a cooling mode. The heat exchange section includes at least two refrigerant passes. Refrigerant is circuited through the refrigerant passes in the same direction in both the heating mode and the cooling mode, so that the overall flow orientation between the refrigerant passes and the air is a counter-flow orientation in both the heating mode and the cooling mode.

Heating and cooling system, and heat exchanger for the same

A heat exchanger includes first and second sets of parallel arranged tubes. The first set of tubes extends along a first arcuate path, the second set of tubes extends along a second arcuate path, and each one of the second set of tubes is aligned in a common plane with a corresponding one of the first set of tubes. Corrugated fin segments are arranged in spaces between adjacent tubes, and crests and troughs of the corrugated fin segments are joined to broad and flat faces of the tubes. In making the heat exchanger, the material of the corrugated fin segment is intermittently slit to define breaking points prior to arranging the corrugated fin segment between the tubes.

Heat exchanger and method of making the same

A side plate for use in a heat exchanger having a width dimension and a first and a second row of parallel arranged tubes extending in the direction of the width dimension. A first and a second header are arranged at one common end of the width dimension to receive the ends of the tubes in the first and second rows, respectively. The side plate includes a first body section joined to and extending from the first header, the first body section defining a first outer periphery. The side plate includes a second body section joined to and extending from the second header, the second body section defining a second outer periphery. The second outer periphery is spaced apart from the first outer periphery such that each one of the first and second body sections is allowed to more relative to the other in the direction of the width dimension.

A method of dispensing includes the steps of exerting a force on an actuator of a dispenser having a conduit with an inlet and an outlet in a first non-actuation state, to place the actuator in a second actuation state. When the actuator is in the second actuation state, the inlet and the outlet of the actuator are moved from a first position to a second position.

Dispensing system

An evaporator includes an inlet manifold, an outlet parallel to the inlet manifold, and a collection manifold parallel and adjacent to the outlet manifold. First flow conduits extend from the inlet manifold to the collection manifold, and at least one second flow conduit extends from the collection manifold to the outlet manifold. The evaporator can be housed within an enclosure to provide a cased evaporator. Air is conditioned by transferring heat from the air to refrigerant as the air passes through the evaporator. The refrigerant is received from outside the enclosure into the inlet manifold, and is directed through first and second refrigerant passes to receive heat from the air. The flow of refrigerant is received from the second pass into a collection manifold, is transferred to an outlet manifold, and is removed from the enclosure.

Evaporator, and method of conditioning air

A heat exchanger is provided to efficiently transfer heat between air and a flow of refrigerant in a reversing air-sourced heat pump system. When the system is operating in heat pump mode, a flow of air is directed through the heat exchanger and is heated by the refrigerant. A portion of the flow of air is prevented from being heated by the refrigerant in a first section of the heat exchanger, and is used to sub-cool the refrigerant in another section of the heat exchanger after the remaining air has been heated by the refrigerant. The same heat exchanger can be used to cool a flow of air using expanded refrigerant when the system is operating in an air conditioning (cooling) mode.

A dispensing system includes a dispenser, at least one sensor, and a shroud including at least one aperture. A virtual shield is provided between the sensor and the shroud to reduce background noise.

An actuator includes a conduit and first and second tabs protruding from the conduit. Each tab includes a first angled face and a first flat face disposed adjacent a first end of the tab and a second angled face and a second flat face disposed adjacent a second end of the tab.

A heat exchanger including a first header, a second header, and a third header. The third header includes a first plate including a generally planar face and a second plate including a generally planar face parallel to the planar face of the first plate and joined to the planar face of the first plate. The second plate includes an arcuate recess that extends from the planar face of the second plate to at least partially define a flow conduit between a first tube and a second tube. The arcuate recess has a radius of curvature measured from an axis generally parallel to the planar faces of the first and the second plates, and the axis is located within a first plane generally parallel to and midway between first and second opposing flat broad sides of the first tube and the second tube.

A heat exchanger including a tube having inlet ends and outlet ends and defining a flow path therebetween. The tube can have a first section and a second section arranged at an angle with respect to the first section. Each of the first section and the second section can include a first subsection and a second subsection arranged at an angle with respect to the first subsection.
