Embodiments include an array microphone comprising a plurality of microphone sets arranged in a linear pattern relative to a first axis and configured to cover a plurality of frequency bands. Each microphone set comprises a first microphone arranged along the first axis and a second microphone arranged along a second axis orthogonal to the first microphone, wherein a distance between adjacent microphones along the first axis is selected from a first group consisting of whole number multiples of a first value, and within each element, a distance between the first and second microphones along the second axis is selected from a second group consisting of whole number multiples of a second value.

One-dimensional array microphone with improved directivity

Offset cartridge microphones are provided that include multiple unidirectional microphone cartridges mounted in an offset geometry. Various desired polar patterns and/or desired steering angles can be formed by processing the audio signals from the multiple cartridges, including a toroidal polar pattern. The offset geometry of the cartridges may include mounting the cartridges so that they are immediately adjacent to one another and so that their center axes are offset from one another. The microphones may have a more consistent on-axis frequency response and may more uniformly form desired polar patterns and/or desired steering angles by reducing the interference and reflections within and between the cartridges.

Dual diaphragm dynamic microphone transducer

The invention provides a digital automixer system that includes a master processing unit and at least one non-master processing unit that are interconnected. The non-master processing unit obtains a first microphone signal and determines a first basic level measurement and a network submix audio signal. The master processing unit obtains a second microphone signal and determines a second basic level measurement, and obtains the first basic level measurement and the network submix audio signal from the non-master processing unit. The master processing unit further forms a final mix audio signal from the second microphone signal and the network submix audio signal and determines a gating control signal for the digital automixer system. The master processing unit may also delay the second basic level measurement to compensate for a network delay. The invention also provides a digital automixer system that includes a plurality of master processing units.

Digital Microphone Automixer

A microphone assembly comprising a housing, the housing including an upper lip, a silicon backplate having a top portion, a bottom portion, an annular side portion, a silicon spacer integrally formed with the backplate and comprising at least one protrusion extending from and integral to the top portion of the silicon backplate, the spacer further comprising an insulating layer, such as silicon dioxide or a fluoropolymer. A plurality of openings extend from the top portion of the backplate to the bottom portion of the backplate. A single diaphragm, comprised of metallized polymer film, acts as both a protective environmental barrier and a sensing electrode of a capacitive electroacoustic sensing transducer. A metal ring is positioned against the upper lip of the metal housing. The diaphragm is adhesively affixed to the ring, and the ring, in cooperation with the upper lip and a spring, secure the diaphragm against the insulating layer of the spacer.

Condenser microphone assembly

The invention provides method and apparatus that utilize a plurality of port sub-arrays, in which each port sub-array comprises a plurality of acoustical ports. The ports of each port sub-array are spaced so that each port sub-array responds to acoustical signals that are generated by acoustical sources within an associated frequency range. In an embodiment of the invention, associated frequency ranges are related in a harmonic manner, in which each port sub-array corresponds to different frequency octaves. The associated frequency range is a portion of the total frequency range of an acoustical system. Received acoustical signals from each of the port sub-arrays are coupled over acoustical pathways and are converted into electrical signals by capsules that may be mounted in a capsule mounting. The electrical signals may be filtered, such as to reduce spatial aliasing, and post processed to further enhance the characteristics of the signals.
