A fluorescence histo-tomography (FHT) method may include capturing, using an imaging device positioned with respect to a chamber of a slicing apparatus, images of a block face of a specimen retained within the chamber. The images may be captured in the visible and infrared or near-infrared spectrum. The method may include co-registering the images to form a combined image, and providing the combined image to an electronic display. In some implementations, the method may include positioning the imaging device away from the chamber, operating the slicing apparatus to expose a second block face of the specimen, and repositioning the imaging device with respect to the chamber.

Fluorescence histo-tomography (FHT) systems and methods

In one embodiment, a fluorescence histo-tomography (FHT) system is disclosed. The FHT system includes an imaging housing, a fluorescence camera located within the housing, a white light camera located within the imaging housing, and a fluorescence light source located within the imaging housing. The FHT system further includes a support mount configured to support the imaging housing within a chamber of a slicing apparatus such that the cameras and fluorescence light source are aimed towards a block face of a tissue specimen retained within the chamber.

In one embodiment, an imaging system illuminates a surface of tissue with one or more spots of near-infrared (NIR) light within a field of view of a camera of the imaging system. The imaging system captures an image of the one or more spots of NIR light within the field of view of the camera of the imaging system. The imaging system calculates, for each of the one or more spots of NIR light in the captured image, a spot diameter, spot position, or spot shape in the captured image. The imaging system determines a distance between the imaging system and the surface of tissue, based on the calculated spot diameter, spot position, or spot shape of the one or more spots of NIR light in the captured image. The imaging system provides data indicative of the determined distance between the imaging system and the surface of tissue to an electronic display.

Range-finding in optical imaging

In one embodiment, a fluorescence histo-tomography (FHT) system is disclosed. The FHT system includes a housing, a fluorescence camera located within the housing, a white light camera located within the housing, and a fluorescence light source located within the housing.
