The invention provides a mouthpiece for dental cleaning system and the dental cleaning system itself. The mouthpiece has a base and inner and outer arches. An actuator is for applying motion to the inner arch and/or the outer arch, relative to the base. A coupling arrangement converts motion of one of the inner and outer arches in one direction relative to the base to motion in an opposite direction relative to the base of the other of the inner and outer arches. By forming the mouthpiece as a central stationary base enveloped by two contour-following and moving arches, an anti-phase brushing motion at opposite tooth sites along the tooth arch is enabled, giving increased reach toward the molars as well as a reduction in device vibration in the mouth.

There is provided a method of determining a scan sequence for magnetic resonance imaging—MRI. The method comprises: receiving an indication of one or more selected imaging parameters for the MRI; and based on the selected imaging parameters, determining the scan sequence usable by an MRI apparatus to perform the MRI, wherein determining the scan sequence comprises configuring the scan sequence to modulate gradient noise arising from the MRI apparatus during the MRI to deliver a first audible signal to the patient, wherein the first audible signal is configured to perform auditory stimulation of slow wave activity in the patient.

A system for oral irrigation comprises a fluid delivery tube with a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end is configured to receive fluids for oral irrigation. The system also comprises a nozzle at the distal end of the fluid delivery tube with an aperture for fluid delivery. The nozzle is configured to at least partially obstruct the flow of fluid from the fluid delivery tube through the nozzle when the aperture is in contact with a tooth relative to when the aperture is away from said contact. A pump is configured to pump fluids through the fluid delivery tube based on a pump configuration and a sensor is used for sensing a pressure or flow rate in the fluid delivery tube. A controller is configured to detect whether the nozzle is in an interdental space based on the sensor detecting a pressure drop or a flow rate increase in the fluid delivery tube and adjust the pump configuration based on the nozzle being in an interdental space.

The present invention relates to patient positioning. In order to improve patient positioning during a scan, an autonomous motion positioner is proposed using a critical range, which may correspond to maximum corrections achievable by the scanner hardware and the maximum tolerable image distortions. The critical range is determined based on one or more machine settings of the medical imaging system. As the machine setting(s) may vary in a given imaging exam, the critical range may dynamically change in response to a change of the machine setting in the given imaging exam. External sensors may measure, via a feedback loop, the deviation from the start position, i.e. the imaging pose position. If patient motion is too large and the motion parameter (e.g. translation and/or rotation) exceeds the determined critical range, then the scan process may be stopped. The autonomous scanner may hold in an idle mode. During that mode, the patient may be guided to retake its original position via a feedback system. A control loop may calculate critical range deviation and the scan process may be continued, if the motion parameter is less than the determined critical range. Accordingly, uncorrectable motion artefacts due to large body movements may be avoided. The motion positioner may be suitable for systems, such as MR, MR-LINAC, computed tomography (CT), and positron emission tomography (PET).

A further aspect of the invention provides for an oral treatment unit, or an assembly of a plurality of oral treatment units, for confining and modulating an electromagnetic field having a frequency in the range of 1 MHz to 300 GHz and adapted to be inserted into the mouth, which may form part of an oral cleaning device in combination with a base unit, including a first cleaning element coupled to the oral treatment unit. The oral treatment unit further comprises an electromagnetic field focusing element adapted to receive an electromagnetic field having an initial frequency and output a focused electromagnetic field. The electromagnetic field focusing element comprises a first material structure having a first passive electromagnetic field focusing function, which confines the modulated electromagnetic field at a given distance from the first material structure by performing one or more of: an attenuation rate control function in the near-field region of the first material structure; or a propagation direction modification function on the electromagnetic field. The electromagnetic field focusing element has a modulation function that modulates the confined electromagnetic field, thereby generating a modulated electromagnetic field.

A personal care device () comprising an RF signal generator () for generating RF-frequency electromagnetic emissions for a cleaning or treatment function. The RF emissions may be output from a set of two or more RF electrodes () (e.g. electrodes) upon stimulation with an RF drive signal in a frequency range from 3 kHz to 30 GHz from an RF signal generator. The device further includes a controller () for detect a degraded functional state of the RF electrodes () via monitoring changes or variations in one or more electrical characteristics of the RF signal generator (), e.g. drift in one or more electrical characteristics from reference factory levels, or sudden changes in the characteristics, indicating a short-circuit. A response action can be generated based on the electrical characteristics meeting pre-defined criteria indicative of a certain degraded functional status, for example generating a sensory alert for a user or data output, or performing remedial action such as deactivating sensed defective or worn electrodes.

The transducer unit () comprises a vibration generating means () at a tissue contact area, and has means for sensing a sliding direction of the transducer unit across a tissue surface () at which the contact area is incident. The tissue surface may be an external skin surface or an internal tissue surface, e.g. in case of a catheter. A control means is operable to control the vibration of the vibration generator to adjust a level of friction at the tissue contact area. This is used by the control means to implement a friction guiding function for guiding a user in sliding the unit across the incident surface, e.g. toward a target location (), based on controlling the friction level responsive to sensed sliding direction, for instance providing lower friction when sliding is in a target direction, while leaving other directions with relative higher frictional resistance.

Provided is a method of determining a concentration (C) of a first analyte (a) in sweat excreted by a first sweat gland type at a first skin location (i) having the first sweat gland type and a second sweat gland type. The method comprises measuring a first concentration (I) of the first analyte in sweat excreted at the first skin location and measuring at least one parameter of sweat excreted by the second sweat gland type at a second skin location (ii) having the second sweat gland type but not the first sweat gland type. The at least one parameter is used to determine a dilution factor (II) which quantifies dilution of the first analyte by sweat excreted by the second sweat gland type at the first skin location. This dilution factor (II) is then used to correct the first concentration (I) so as to determine the concentration (C). Further provided is an apparatus () for determining the concentration (C).

Method and apparatus for differential sweat measurement

The present disclosure relates to an ear protection system () for a medical imaging device. It comprises an ear protection device (), adapted to be fitted around or in the ears of a patient (P) to be imaged, and at least comprising a first communication interface () and at least one sensor device () adapted to determine a measurement of noise passing through the ear protection device () towards the ears of the patient.
