A system to create a cell for a monopole or bipole lead acid battery includes a paster to produce wet paste, a first carrier structure to receive the wet paste, and a second carrier structure to receive an electrode substrate. A combining station combines the first carrier structure and corresponding wet paste and the second carrier structure and corresponding electrode substrate into an assembly. An ultrasonic welding system receives the assembly and provides mechanical pressure and ultrasonic energy to the assembly. A removal station via which to remove at least one of the first and second carrier structures to create a modified assembly.

A switch has a first input to couple to an AC electrical power source, a second input to couple to a DC electrical power source, and an output to couple to an electrical power load. A control module transmits a signal to the electrical power load to determine whether the electrical power load uses AC electrical power or DC electrical power, and receives in response thereto an indication that the electrical power load uses one of AC electrical power and DC electrical power. The control module then transmits a signal to the switch to configure the switch to receive electrical power from one of the AC electrical power source and the DC electrical power source and transmit the received electrical power to the electrical power load, responsive to the received indication.

An electrical power distribution system includes a number of alternating current (AC) power output ports to transmit electrical power at a first fixed AC voltage level to a corresponding number of AC power loads. An AC bus coupled to the AC power output ports, and to couple to an AC power grid, transmits electrical power at a second fixed AC voltage level. A DC bus transmits electrical power at a first fixed DC voltage level. A number of AC power input/output (I/O) adapters are coupled to the AC bus and the DC bus, each including a bidirectional AC-to-DC (AC/DC) converter to receive and convert the electrical power transmitted on the AC bus at the second fixed AC voltage level to the electrical power at the first fixed DC voltage level for transmission to the DC bus, and to receive and convert the electrical power transmitted on the DC bus at the first fixed DC voltage level to the electrical power at the second fixed AC voltage level for transmission to the AC bus. The system further includes logic coupled to the AC power I/O adapters, the AC power output ports, and the AC bus, to control an amount of the electrical power transmitted from the AC power grid to the DC bus and from the DC bus to the AC bus for transmission to the AC power grid and/or one or more of the AC power output ports.

A system and method may include receiving, at a first node of a circuit electrically coupled to a light emitting diode, a pulsed electrical signal that includes signal current pulses. The system and method may also include enabling discharging of a capacitor electrically coupled to the first node at an enable time that is during a particular time period between two particular signal current pulses of the pulsed electrical signal.

A system and method may include receiving, at a first node of a circuit electrically coupled to a light emitting diode, a pulsed electrical signal that includes signal current pulses. The system and method may also include enabling discontinuous discharging of a capacitor electrically coupled to the first node during a particular time period between two particular signal current pulses of the pulsed electrical signal.

An electrical power input adapter coupled to a direct current (DC) bus in a power distribution system receives either an alternating current (AC) power signal or a DC power signal at a first voltage level to transmit to the DC bus. An electrical converter receives and converts the received signal to a DC power signal at a second fixed voltage. A second interface includes a current limiter to receive and limit an amperage of the DC power signal at the second voltage. A programmable switch coupled to the current limiter receives the DC power signal at the second voltage and at the limited amperage and transmits the DC power signal at the second voltage and at the limited amperage. A controller coupled to the programmable switch controls when, within a period of time, the programmable switch is to transmit the DC power signal at the second voltage and at the limited amperage. An integrator receives the DC power signal at the second voltage and at the limited amperage when transmitted within the period of time and converts it to a DC power signal at the second voltage and at a second amperage that is proportional to the limited amperage integrated over the period of time.

Method and apparatus for current control in input power adapters for a DC bus-based power router

An electrical power distribution system includes an electrical power router with input ports and output ports and distributes an electrical signal received on one of the input ports to one of output ports. An electrical input adapter coupled to one of the input ports and further to couple to an electrical power source receives and convert an electrical signal input from the electrical power source to the electrical signal distributed by the power router. An electrical output adapter coupled to one of the output ports and further to couple to an electrical power load receives and converts the electrical signal distributed by the power router from the one of the output ports to an electrical signal output to the electrical power load. A controller coupled to the electrical input adapter, the electrical output adapter, and the electrical power router, controls transmission of the electrical signal from the electrical input adapter to the electrical output adapter through the electrical power router.

Electrical power distribution system and method

A lighting fixture includes a directional light source that produces a plurality of light rays. An optical module is coupled to the directional light source to focus the plurality of light rays into a beam of light rays to be output by the lighting fixture. The angular distribution of a majority of the beam relative to a vector normal to a ceiling on or near which the fixture is to be installed is in a range of 70 to 95 degrees. A blocking structure is used to block a direct view of the beam of light when the fixture is installed such that only indirect light is primarily visible from a viewer at least in or around a working plane substantially parallel to the ceiling.

Embodiments of the invention provide methods and apparatuses for illuminating the surface of a wheel with one or more light source assemblies positioned within the rotating reference frame of the wheel. The amount of light from the light source assemblies reflected from the wheel surface is greater than the amount of light, from the light source assemblies, that is directed away from the wheel surface. The light source assemblies may include a shield to reduce the amount of light that is directed away from the wheel surface. The light source assemblies may include various light-directing devices to direct light toward the wheel surface and to help reduce the amount of light from the light source assemblies, that is directed away from the wheel surface. The surface of the wheel may be modified to help direct the light, reflected from the wheel surface, to a specified observation region.
