Embodiments of the invention provide a system and method for matching a media manipulation with a media manipulation template. First, a media manipulation input is received. Next, the media manipulation input is compared with at least one stored media manipulation template. Then, the media manipulation input is modified to emulate at least one of the stored media manipulation templates when the media manipulation input is approximately equal to the at least one stored media manipulation template.

A random number generator that generates random numbers based on measurements of one or more environmental quantities. The random number generator includes a first sensor for generating a first sequence of digital values representing measurements of a first environmental quantity at successive times. A first compressor that provides a first sequence of compressed values having a lower internal correlation than the values of the first sequence of digital values compresses the sequence of digital values. The random number generator generates an output random number via a circuit for generating a random number from an input sequence of digital values, the input sequence being a function of one of the first sequence of compressed values. The circuit may utilize a hash function to provide further security. In addition, the circuit includes a blocking circuit for preventing the generator from outputting a random number if the input sequences fail a predetermined test.

Method and apparatus for random bit-string generation utilizing environment sensors

A digital audio system configured to facilitate a collaborative audio session comprises a first digital audio device operable by a first user, a second digital audio device operable by a second user independently of the first digital audio device, and a server configured to communicate with the first digital audio device and the second digital audio device over a network, receive a request from at least one of the digital audio devices for participation in a collaborative audio session, and facilitate communication between the first digital audio device and the second digital audio device.

A web navigation system includes a virtual link creator that creates an electronic file that contains positional data of a physical location and a web address of a web page associated with the physical location. A virtual link server system receives the electronic file. The server system can transmit the electronic file to any remote receiver system that is near the physical location via a communication network. A receiver system, capable of communicating with the server system and accessing external Internet, receives the electronic file from the server system when the receiver system is near the physical location such that the web address of the web page is virtually posted at the physical location without employing a physical object to host the web address at the physical location. A system for creating such a virtual link is also described. Also described is a system for virtually posting a web address of a web page associated with a physical location.

Creating a virtual link between a physical location and its web representation

A system for providing information about physical entities to users includes an information server accessible to a plurality of user-held receivers. An exemplary server has access to characteristic accessibility data for candidate physical entities. The server receives a user's request for information about physical entities of interest (which may be mobile), including the user's search domain relative to the user's location (the user may also be mobile). The search domain does not necessarily require the user to provide a network address of, or perform a keyword search for the networked data pages of, the physical entities of interest. The server determines which (if any) of said candidate physical entities satisfy the request, and reports to the user at the receiver over an electronic network.

Virtual beacon system

A security system involving a user includes a token attachable to the user. The token is associated with the user while attached to the user. The association is automatically discontinued when the token is detached from the user.

Dynamic security system

A method and system for transmitting information between a transmitter and a receiver that has capabilities through a communication link that has transmission characteristics. The information to be transmitted is received. The capabilities of the client are then determined. The transmission characteristics of the communication link are also determined. The received information is then converted into a format that is based on the capabilities of the client, the transmission characteristics of the communication link, or both the capabilities of the client and the transmission characteristics of the communication link. The information is then transmitted to the client in the format.

Method and system that tailors format of transmission to suit client capabilities and link characteristics

A device having a signal module configured to transmit a first type of signal and a second type of signal and to receive the first type of signal and the second type of signal. The device also includes a timer and a controller configured to operate the signal module and timer. The controller is operable to determine a location of the device with respect to another device based upon the time elapsed between transmission and receipt of the first type of signal and transmission and receipt of the second type of signal.

Location aware device

A system for identifying the position of a wireless device and transmitting that position back to the wireless device, the system comprising a plurality of receiver/correlators, each receiver/correlator being positioned at a fixed location in the network for receiving position request packets from the wireless cellular device, thereby generating a trigger signal each time a position request packet is received, the trigger signal used to record a local time, as indicated by an internal clock, at which the position request packet is received, and generating timing packets which include information about received position request packet, including time received. The system further including a central server for receiving the timing packets from the plurality of receiver/correlators and determining the position of the wireless device using the information in various timing packets.

Biometric sensing is performed by generating an input digital image of a human attribute; and correlating domains of lightness and darkness in the input digital image to domains of lightness and darkness in a reference digital image.

Biometric sensor

A security system based on a tamper resistant badge that becomes deactivated if the badge is removed from the person authorized to wear the badge. The badge has a volatile memory for storing the security clearance information associated with the wearer and a processor having sufficient power to perform encrypted communications. The badge also has an attachment sensor that resets the security clearance information if the badge is removed from the wearer. A secure data processing system utilizing the badges includes an administrative computer, A, and a client computer, C. Computer A has an identity verification system for authenticating the identity of individuals having badges and loading the clearance information into the volatile memory after the badge is attached to the wearer. The C computers access the information in the badge's volatile memory to provide access to the wearer at the access level specified in the volatile memory.

Access control through secure channel using personal identification system

A security badge to be worn by a person seeking access to a secure system. The badge includes a data processor having a non-volatile and a volatile memory, a transceiver, and an attachment sensor. The volatile memory stores information related to the wearer's security clearance. This information is loaded after the badge is attached to the person and the person's identity is verified. This information is deleted from the volatile memory if the badge is removed from the wearer or subjected to tampering. The data processing system has sufficient computing power to allow the badge to execute encrypted communications with the secure system.

An imaging system that uses an array controller which is adapted to imaging arrays having black cells to control an imaging array not having black cells. The imaging system includes an array controller that is adapted to process a scan line that includes one or more black pixels. The imaging system includes an imaging array not having black cells that generates a series of pixel data samples in response to light from an image. The imaging system includes circuitry for generating the scan line by synthesizing the black level pixels and combining the black pixels with the series of pixel data samples.

An optical encoder can detect relative movement of a target without the use of a systematic pattern on the target. Natural features of different areas of the target are imaged by a photosensor array. The photosensor array generates a sequence of data frames of the imaged areas, and a processor processes patterns in the data frames of the imaged areas to detect a relative motion or displacement of the target. The processor can determine incremental relative motion or rate of relative motion.

Optical encoders using non-patterned targets

A system for providing operational power to network access points includes a router having an external power supply to transmit network signals to the network access points. Each self-powered access point includes power extraction circuitry for extracting power from the network signals and a power storage subsystem for storing the extracted power. Signal conversion circuitry is connected to the power storage subsystem for receiving operating power to perform signal conversion of received network signals addressed to a computer and to reconfigure data received from the computer for transmission over the network. In a preferred embodiment, the power extraction circuitry includes a full-power extraction mode and a partial power extraction mode. A data analyzer monitors received network signals to determine whether the signals are required by the computer for processing. If a signal is required for processing, the data analyzer enables the partial power extraction mode in the power extraction circuitry to preserve a minimum signal power required by the computer for signal processing. If the signal is not required for processing, the data analyzer enables the full power extraction mode to extract substantially all power from the signal. Power level detection circuitry determines whether the power storage subsystem stores a minimum power level. If a power level below the minimum is detected, the power level detection circuitry disables the data analyzer and enables the full power extraction mode of the power extraction circuitry until the minimum power is achieved, at which time the data analyzer is re-enabled.
