An example system includes a vehicle having a prime mover motively coupled to a drive line; a motor/generator selectively coupled to the drive line, and configured to selectively modulate power transfer between an electrical load and the drive line; a battery pack; a DC/DC converter electrically interposed between the motor/generator and the electrical load, and between the battery pack and the electrical load, the DC/DC converter comprising a DC/DC converter housing; and a covering tray positioned over a plurality of batteries of the battery pack, the covering tray comprising a connectivity layer configured to provide electrical connectivity to terminals of the plurality of batteries.

A current sensing circuit for an electronic power converter having an inductor that is not referenced to ground is configured to provide an output signal that is referenced to ground and is proportional to the current flow between the inductor and a load in an electrical power system. The current sensing circuit includes outputs associated with a voltage of the inductor, a current source circuit, a current steering circuit responsive to the voltage outputs and a level shifting circuit.

Current sensors are located between a positive input of the DC to DC converter and a current doubler is used in an output stage of the DC to DC converter in order to enable more accurate current sensing in a main transformer to prevent saturation of the transformer core and provide increased efficiency and power output with lower electromagnetic noise. The input of the DC to DC converter is isolated from the output of the DC to DC converter, and the DC to DC converter may be used in a hybrid or all-electric vehicle to provide an accessory bus from a power source of the vehicle.

A power converter includes a bypass circuit connected in parallel with a power stage of the power converter. The bypass circuit provides a lower loss current path in parallel with the power stage when an input voltage of the power converter exceeds a predetermined threshold. The power converter may be a boost power converter used in a vehicle to provide power from a main power bus of the vehicle to a subsystem of the vehicle such as an anti-lock brake system.

A power converter includes a transient voltage protection circuit connected between an input of the power converter and a power stage of the power converter. The transient voltage protection circuit provides a low resistance connection from the input of the power converter to the power stage of the power converter when the input voltage is less than a predetermined threshold, but blocks the input voltage from the power stage when the input voltage is equal to or greater than the predetermined threshold voltage. The power converter may be a boost power converter used in a vehicle to provide power from a main power bus of the vehicle to a subsystem of the vehicle such as an anti-lock brake system.
