A method of operating a surveillance system includes capturing a sequence of images of a field-of-view. A source of localized motion is disposed within at least one of a plurality of segments of the field-of-view. Provided to an operator is means to enable or disable, for at least one of the segments of the field-of-view, a localized motion identification and notification function wherein localized motion in the segment is automatically identified and distinguished from transient motion, and the operator is automatically notified about the presence of the localized motion.

Confined motion detection for pan-tilt cameras employing motion detection and autonomous motion tracking

Devices for changing a light bulb (e.g., a compact fluorescent lamp or CFL), especially for those installed in high places, are disclosed. The device has a cylindrical tubular structure with one end opening to accommodate a light bulb. In one embodiment, at least one flexible thin arm with one end shaped to form a hook is pivotably affixed to the tubular structure. In another embodiment, a shaped insert is disposed in the tubular structure to provide necessary friction force to hold the light bulb in place during the changing process. The present invention is suitable for changing various types of CFLs.

A method of identifying motion within a field of view includes capturing at least two sequential images within the field of view. Each of the images includes a respective array of pixel values. An array of difference values between corresponding ones of the pixel values in the sequential images is calculated. A sensitivity region map corresponding to the field of view is provided. The sensitivity region map includes a plurality of regions having different threshold values. A presence of motion is determined by comparing the difference values to corresponding ones of the threshold values.

A video image stabilization system includes a camera having an image capturing device capturing a video image. The camera has a selectively adjustable field of view. A processing device is operably coupled to the camera. The processing device receives signals indicative of the field of view of the camera and images captured by the camera. The processing device automatically tracks movements of at least one object in the images. The processing device determines a stabilizing adjustment for the video image as a function of an unintended change in the field of view of the camera during a time interval between capture of a first image and capture of a second image. The determining is based upon the signals indicative of the field of view and an analysis of the first and second images.

Image stabilization system and method for a video camera

A method of processing video images includes capturing a first image with a camera having a first field of view. The capturing occurs at a first point in time. Commands are transmitted to the camera to make pan, tilt and zoom movements. A second image is captured with the camera at a second point in time. The second point in time is after the movements have commenced. A second field of view of the camera is calculated at the second point in time. The calculating is based upon the commands. The second image is processed based upon the first field of view and the calculated second field of view.

Method and apparatus for producing frame accurate position data in a PTZ dome camera with open loop control

An aquarium heating system utilizes a conductive coating on an aquarium glass viewing window to heat the aquarium water. The conductive coating is transparent and is disposed on the surface of at least one viewing window. A voltage is supplied to the conductive coating under control of a power supply which operates to maintain the water at a constant temperature.
