Vision apparatus comprising frame and pivotable display

The majority of applications for head mounted display (HMD) users, irrespective of whether they are for short-term, long-term, low vision, augmented reality, etc. yield a conflicting set of tradeoffs between user comfort and minimal fatigue and strain during use, ease of attachment, minimizing intrusiveness and aesthetics which must be concurrently balanced with and are often in conflict with providing an optical vision system that provides the user with a wide field of view and high image resolution whilst also offering a large exit pupil for eye placement with sufficient eye clearance. Further, individual users' needs vary as do their needs with the general task at-hand, visual focus, and various regions-of-interest within their field of view. To address these issues, it is necessary to provide a high performance optical system, eyepiece design, and system features which overcome these limitations.

Enhancing the performance of near-to-eye vision systems

Within applications for Near-to-Eye (NR2I) displays, irrespective of whether they are for short-term, long-term, low vision, augmented reality, etc., there is a conflicting tradeoff between user comfort, ease of attachment, minimizing intrusiveness and aesthetics which must be concurrently balanced with and are often in conflict with providing an optical vision system within the NR2I display that provides the user with a wide field of view and high image resolution whilst also offering a large exit pupil for eye placement with sufficient eye clearance. Embodiments of the invention address these issues and provide a high performance optical system through the design of the optical eyepiece design to overcome these limitations within a bioptic configuration with laterally disposed displays.

Large exit pupil wearable near-to-eye vision systems exploiting freeform eyepieces

For users exploiting near-to-eye (NR2I) displays for augmented reality and/or correction of low vision then the user is typically going to wear the immersive or non-immersive NR2I displays for specific tasks, for specific visual environments, etc. and hence there is an issue of repeatedly attaching and removing the NR2I display. Further, in the majority of applications irrespective of whether for short-term, long-term, low vision, augmented reality, etc. there is a conflicting tradeoff between user comfort, ease of attachment, minimizing intrusiveness and aesthetics. Accordingly, a means of pivotably attaching and supporting a NR2I display is provided wherein the pivotable mounts may be permanently attached, attached, or demountably attached to a frame which may include for some user's prescription lenses.

Methods and devices for demountable head mounted displays

The present disclosure relates to non-planar inductive electrical elements in semiconductor package lead frames. A non-planar inductive element is formed from a lead frame in a semiconductor package. The semiconductor package also includes at least one semiconductor die coupled to the lead frame. The non-planar inductive element could be formed by deforming portions of a patterned planar lead frame blank to form the non-planar inductive element in a deformed lead frame blank. The deformed lead frame blank and the at least one semiconductor die could then be packaged into a semiconductor package. A setting tool could be used to deform the lead frame blank. A configurable lead frame blank could be configurable into any of a variety of inductive elements, through interconnection of lead frame segments using wire bonds, for example.

Non-planar inductive electrical elements in semiconductor package lead frame

A chassis for telecommunication gear including horizontal circuit boards includes an enclosure forming a front-accessible circuit board slot for receiving horizontal circuit boards. The circuit board slot has first connectors for receiving mating second connectors on the circuit boards, and multiple circuit board guides for guiding and securing horizontal circuit boards inserted into the slot. Adjacent pairs of the guides are spaced to receive circuit boards of predetermined widths, and at least one of the guides is removable so that it can be re-positioned within the slot for changing the spacing between adjacent pairs of the guides to receive circuit boards of different widths. The circuit boards may be telecommunication line cards.

Removable card guides for horizontal line cards

A stacked backplane assembly, including two or more backplanes or midplanes having different functionality and combined together so as to form an integral unit, is provided. The backplanes forming the assembly are manufactured with prime and secondary manufacturing holes to enable alignment, so that the resulting tolerance build-up of the assembly is similar to that of a single backplane. Connectors can be arranged on the backplanes of the assembly so that an electronic or optical card can be simultaneously plugged in to one or more of the backplanes that comprise the stacked backplane assembly. The stacked backplane assembly of the embodiments of the invention is illustrated by having power and signal backplanes and midplanes, but can be equally applied to backplanes that provide other types of functionality.

Stacked backplane assembly

An interconnection module for holding and interconnecting optoelectronic cards is provided. It includes an optical midplane which accommodates and flexibly interconnects N optoelectronic cards on one side of the midplane and M cards on the other side of the midplane. Optical connectors, which are arranged on the midplane and on the cards, provide arrangement of cards on the midplane in one of the two positions, in the first position the cards on opposite sides of the midplane being parallel to each other, and in the second position the cards being perpendicular to each other. Preferably, each of the N cards on one side is connected to a subset of cards on the other side, the number of cards in the subset being variable for each of the N cards and less or equal to M in total. Additionally, a backplane section of the module, having a plurality of connectors joined via laminated strands, may be added as an extension of the midplane to interconnect any required number of cards on same side of the midplane. Corresponding method of interconnecting cards is also provided.
