Devices and methods comprise or provide an ECG recording device containing a mailable base and electrode assembly and/or other means engageable with the base to receive ECG signals from a subject during a self-administered ECG examination. The devices and methods may also include a single-use or limited-use ECG recording device, in which the base is disposable or reusable or recyclable. In addition, the device may be self-contained, battery-operated, portable, disposable, mailable to a location remote from an ECG examination, provide feedback, indicate its method of use, including graphically depicting same, contain a finger cuff and/or sensor pad for receiving ECG signals, and/or contain a memory. Preferably, the base conforms to various body shapes and/or sizes, is made of flexible and/or semi-flexible material, and/or contains a receptor, such as sealable blood well. The device can also communicate the ECG signals to an ECG processing system, which can be remote from the ECG examinations and comprise wireless communications.

Devices and methods for self-administered ECG examinations

A method for assigning an ECG for purposes of conducting a clinical trial is disclosed herein. The method includes assigning an ECG to a primary reader, selectively reassigning the ECG to the primary reader, and selectively assigning the ECG to a secondary reader. The method also includes automating the assignment of the ECG to a primary reader, automating the selective reassignment of the ECG to the primary reader, and/or automating the selective assignment of the ECG to a secondary reader in order to minimize manual labor requirements.

Method for collecting and assigning patient data in a clinical trial

The present disclosure includes a method and system for managing ECGs in a clinical trial including a processor, storage media, ECG acquisition system, user interface device, and the appropriate databases configured to collect and store a set of trial specific drug ECG recordings. The system and method allows a trial administrator to select a set of placebo ECG recordings and a set of known QT prolonged ECG recordings from databases and adjust these sets according to the parameters of the study. Interpretations are made on this superset of ECG recordings and the interpretation is outputted to a user.

Method and system or managing ECGs in a clinical trial

The present disclosure includes a system and method of detecting LQTS in a patient by comparing a collected set of ECG data from the patient to a plurality of databases of collected ECG data. The plurality of databases will include a database containing previous ECGs from the patient, a known acquired LQTS characteristics database, and a known genetic LQTS characteristics database. Comparing the patients ECG to these databases will facilitate the detection of such occurrences as changes in QT interval from success of ECGs, changes in T-wave morphology, changes in U-wave morphology and can match known genetic patterns of LQTS. The system and method is sensitive to patient gender and ethnicity, as these factors have been shown to effect LQTS, and is furthermore capable of matching a QT duration to a database of drug effects. The system and method is also easily integrated into current ECG management systems and storage devices.

System and method of serial comparison for detection of long QT syndrome (LQTS)

Various methods related to encoding and retrieving physiological data, such as digital ECG data, via a set of binary data are provided. In one embodiment, the set of binary data may be generated from the physiological data and printed on a printout of the physiological data or some other suitable medium. In another embodiment, the set of binary data may be scanned or otherwise acquired, and decoded to reconstruct all or a portion of the original set of physiological data. Additional methods and articles of manufacture are also provided.

Printed digital physiological data system and method

A preferred embodiment of the present invention provides a method and system for high availability remote centralized data management. In a preferred embodiment, the system includes a primary remote centralized data storage storing medical data, and a redundant remote centralized data storage storing a redundant copy of the medical data. In a preferred embodiment, the system also includes a primary data server for storing the medical data in the primary remote centralized data storage. In a preferred embodiment, the primary data server also stores the medical data in the redundant remote centralized data storage. Preferably, the system also includes a redundant data server for storing the medical data in the redundant remote centralized data storage and also the primary remote centralized data storage. Additionally, in a preferred embodiment, the system includes an interface allowing access to the system. Preferably, the interface is a redundant interface providing high availability access to the remote centralized data management system.

A technique is provided for encoding physiological data, such as a digital ECG, as a set of high-resolution symbols. The set of high-resolution symbols may be printed on a printout of the physiological data or other suitable medium. The set of high-resolution symbols may scanned, or otherwise acquired, and decoded to reconstruct all or a portion of the original set of physiological data.

Printed digital ECG system and method

A system for acquiring a plurality of internal images of a patient. The system includes a housing connectable to a medium movement sensor. The medium movement sensor generates a movement signal regarding a movement of the medium. The housing is also connectable to an imaging device. The imaging device acquires the internal images upon receiving a control signal having an acquire output. The system further includes a controller secured to the housing. A cardiac defibrillator for discharging an electrical charge into a patient includes a device for storing mechanical energy, a generator, a capacitor, a charging circuit, a patient interface, an input device, and a control unit. The generator converts mechanical energy stored in the mechanical energy storage device into electrical energy. The charging circuit transfers the electrical energy to the capacitor, wherein the electrical energy is stored in the capacitor. The patient interface provides an electrical path for discharging the electrical energy stored in the capacitor into the patient. The input device is configured to generate a discharge signal. The control unit controls the discharge of the electrical energy into the patient in response to the discharge signal. The mechanical-to-electrical energy converter assembly can also be used to power other medical devices that conventionally run on batteries or AC power line sources.

Apparatus and method to power a medical device using stored mechanical power

A method and system of encoding physiological data. In one embodiment of the invention, raw data is transformed into formatted images and then the formatted images are encoded. The data is transferred at full resolution once to a main server and then the superimposition of the data is encoded using a compression scheme. Preferably, the data is encoded using difference-based encoding, such as MPEG encoding. Encoding the data in this way makes it possible to perform data analysis on a wide variety of workstations, not just high-performance machines.
