An aft heat shield for a fuel nozzle tip includes: an annular shield wall; an annular shield flange extending radially outward from an aft end of the shield wall; an annular baffle flange surrounding the conical section, and disposed such that an axial gap is defined between the shield flange and the baffle flange, the baffle flange including a radially outer rim extending axially forward therefrom; and a plurality of impingement cooling holes passing through the baffle flange and oriented to as to direct air flow towards the shield wall.

Additive manufacturing apparatus and method for large components

An additive manufacturing machine includes a heated gas circulation system for regulating the temperature of additive powder throughout an annular powder bed and parts formed therein. The additive manufacturing machine includes an annular build platform defining a plurality of perforations and a heated gas supply that provides a flow of heated air through the plurality of perforations and the powder bed. The additive manufacturing machine further includes a plurality of fairings for guiding the flow of heated gas to temperature sensitive regions to minimize temperature gradients within the powder bed which might otherwise result in distortion, thermal stresses, or cracking in the finished part.

A surgical instrument can comprise a channel configured to support a staple cartridge and, in addition, an anvil pivotable between open and closed positions relative to the channel. The surgical instrument can further comprise a cutting member configured to incise tissue positioned captured between the staple cartridge and the anvil and, in addition, means for stopping the cutting member prior to a distal end datum, wherein the distal end datum can be defined by the distal-most staple cavity in the staple cartridge. In such embodiments, the incision within the tissue may not extend beyond the portion of the tissue that has been stapled.

A modeling system predicts natural frequency responses in tube sub-systems including shrouded bellows components. The system determines a stiffness multiplier from input values and uses the determined flexibility factor to determine the natural frequency responses. The input values include geometry inputs and dynamic operating condition inputs. The flexibility factor is determined with a regression equation. The regression equation, based on dynamic stiffness test data of various shrouded bellows configurations, permits the system to characterize the shrouded bellows using a geometry element that includes an assigned flexibility factor based on dynamic stiffness test data.

Methods and apparatus for model based shrouded bellows stiffness determinations

An article assembly comprising a plurality of members includes a multi-layered brazed joint provided in the assembly between a first member that can be affected adversely by thermal exposure at a limiting and a second member requiring exposure, such as for brazing, at least at the limiting temperature. The assembly is provided with a multi-layered brazed joint directly or indirectly between such members by brazing to the second member a second brazing alloy that can be brazed at a temperature required to braze the second member, providing a preform. The assembly is brazed to include the first member by brazing members of the assembly together with a first brazing alloy, brazing at a temperature less than the limiting temperature, brazed at the second brazing alloy.

A tube clamping assembly for securing tubes against movement has a bracket and a strap clamp for clamping a tube to the bracket. The strap clamp is configured to be sufficiently flexible so as to close large clamp gaps. In one embodiment, the strap clamp has a generally U-shaped portion having a pair of angled leg sections connected to a flat section. Each one of the angled leg sections forms an obtuse angle at about its midpoint so as to define an inner segment, which is connected to the flat section, and an outer segment. The inner segment of each angled leg section forms an obtuse angle with the flat section, and the outer segments are substantially perpendicular to the flat section. The U-shaped portion has a mounting flange extending from each one of the angled leg sections for bolting the strap clamp to the bracket.
