A method and system for analyzing a plurality of coatings undergoing exposure testing is disclosed. Included in the system are a data acquisition system and a computer system. The data acquisition system acquires coating identification and attribute data through various input devices, while the computer system automatically receives, stores, analyzes and displays the coating attribute data. The analytical results relate to the durability of a coating composition under test, which may be used for predicting the performance of a coating characteristic and developing improved coating compositions.

An automated fluid formulating system for use in small scale laboratory operations. The system utilizes a computer to provide precise control over the measurement of ingredients and the entire formulating process. The novel feature of this invention is that it can provide precise control over the formulating of high viscosity, high solid fluids, such as emulsions and gels. Further, a pre-programmed cleaning cycle can be input into the computer to automatically clean the mixing elements so that the mixing elements do not contaminate subsequent formulations with materials from the prior formulation.

The present invention provides for the convenient preparation, purification, use and re-use of capillary electrochromatography columns that employ polymer gel materials as the separation media. The problems associated with employing crosslinked polymer gels is overcome through the use of physically entangled polymer gels, which comprise, as polymerized units: 1) 5% to 80% by weight of an ionizable monomer; 2) 0.1% to 50% by weight of a monomer containing a retentive ligand; and 3) 10% to 80% by weight of a nonionic monomer.
