The present invention provides quenchers of excited state energy, probes and other conjugates comprising these quenchers, and methods of their use.

Cosmic quenchers

The invention provides a novel class of cyanine dyes that are functionalized with a linker moiety that facilitates their conjugation to other species. Also provided are conjugates of the dyes, methods of using the dyes and their conjugates and kits including the dyes and their conjugates.

Cyanine dyes

The invention provides a novel class of xanthene dyes, some of which are functionalized to allow their coupling to conjugation partners of interest, e.g. biomolecules, drugs, toxins and the like. Also provided are conjugates of the dyes, methods of preparing and using the dyes and their conjugates and kits including the dyes and their conjugates.

Xanthene dyes

The invention provides a novel class of fluorescent compounds. Also provided are conjugates of the fluorescent compounds, methods of using the fluorescent compounds and their conjugates as well as kits including the fluorescent compounds and their conjugates.

Water soluble fluorescent compounds

A method for en bloc staining a biological sample by (a) immersing the sample in a staining solution including an ionically conductive solution and a charged stain molecule or stain precursor that associates with a component of the sample; and (b) applying an electric field across the staining solution, whereby the stain molecule penetrates into the sample. Staining times are reduced.
