According to one aspect, embodiments provide a UPS comprising an input configured to receive input power, a backup input configured to receive backup power from a backup power source, an output configured to provide output power, a communication stack including an external system interface configured to communicate with at least one external device, a local user interface including a switch, the switch having a first position corresponding to a filtering mode and a second position corresponding to a non-filtering mode, the switch being communicatively decoupled from the communication stack, and a controller configured to receive, through the communication stack, commands from an external entity, detect a position of the switch, identify, responsive to detection of the position of the switch corresponding to the filtering mode, that the commands are disallowed commands, and responsive to identifying the disallowed commands, ignore the disallowed commands without executing the disallowed commands.

Uninterruptible power supply communication

An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) includes an input configured to receive input power, a backup power source configured to provide backup power, an output configured to provide output power from at least one of the input power and the backup power, and a controller coupled to the input, the backup power source, and the output. The controller is configured to receive commands from an external entity, detect a configuration setting, identify, based at least in part on the configuration setting, that a first subset of the commands are unrestricted commands and a second subset of the commands are restricted commands, and responsive to identifying the unrestricted commands, execute the unrestricted commands.

Executing restricted commands on an uninterrupted power supply

A system comprising at least one power device is provided. The at least one power device includes an input to receive power from a power source, an output operatively coupled to the input and configured to provide power, a data storage, a network interface, and a controller coupled to the input, the output, the data storage and the network interface. The controller is configured to provide, according to a reporting schedule, identification information directly to a cloud service via the network interface and provide, according to the reporting schedule, secured information directly to the cloud service, the secured information being descriptive of performance of the at least one power device.

Systems and methods of remote communication

An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) includes an input to receive input power, a power supply circuit coupled to the input, to convert input power received from the input, a battery coupled to the power supply circuit, to provide battery power to the power supply circuit as an alternative to input power, and an output coupled to the power supply circuit, to provide output power derived from at least one of the battery and the input power. The UPS also includes a controller, supported by the housing and coupled to the power supply circuit, the controller being configured to receive, from at least one sensor coupled to the controller, information relating to one or more environmental parameters of the uninterruptible power supply and adjust one or more test parameters of a battery test based on the one or more environmental parameters.

System and method for monitoring a battery in an uninterruptible power supply

A system for exchanging information is provided. The system includes a memory, a first communication link, and at least one processor implementing a first protocol. The at least one processor is coupled to the memory and the first communication link. The at least one processor is configured to receive, via the first communication link, a first request message including a first globally unique identifier (GUID); start, responsive to receipt of the first request message, a communication session over the first communication link; provide a first response message including the first GUID; receive, via the first communication link, a second request message including data and a second GUID; write the data to a location indicated by the second GUID; read information stored at the indicated location; and provide a second response message including the second GUID and the information.

Communication protocols

According to one aspect of the invention, a UPS includes an input configured to be coupled to an AC power source, a DC power source, an output configured to receive power from at least one of the AC power source and the DC power source, a first switched receptacle outlet coupled to the output and configured to be coupled to a first electrical load and a second receptacle outlet coupled to the output and configured to be coupled to a second electrical load. According to some embodiments, the UPS also includes a control unit configurable to provide a first configuration associated with the first switched receptacle outlet, where the first configuration is employed by the control unit to control a connection of the first switched receptacle outlet to the output independent of the second receptacle outlet.

Apparatus, system and method for a UPS

One aspect relates to a communication protocol for communicating between one or more entities, such as devices, hosts or any other system capable of communicating over a network. Another aspect relates to a system architecture that permits more than one slave system (e.g., a slave device) to be connected to a master system (e.g., a master device) in a communication system implementing a master/slave protocol. In one aspect, a pass-through device is provided that facilitates communication and authentication to one or more downstream slave devices. Yet another aspect relates to a star-based configuration of slave devices coupled to the master, and protocols for communicating and authenticating slave devices. Another aspect relates to a protocol that allows communication between entities without a priori knowledge of the communication protocol. In such a protocol, for example, information describing a data structure of the communication protocol is transferred between communicating entities. Further, an authentication protocol is provided for providing bidirectional authentication between communicating entities. In one specific example, the entities include a master device and a slave device coupled by a serial link. In another specific example, the communication protocol may be used for performing unbalanced transmission between communicating entities.

An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system includes an AC power input configured to receive AC power from a single-phase AC power source or a multi-phase AC power source, a DC power source, an output circuit including a power output, a controllable switch configured to selectively couple at least one of the AC power input and the DC power source to the output circuit, and a processor coupled and configured to affect operation of the output circuit depending upon which of single-phase and multi-phase operation of the UPS is indicated.

Uninterruptible power supply

A power supply system includes an AC power line with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) device coupled to receive power from the AC power line. The UPS includes control circuitry that couples power conversion circuitry of the UPS to the AC power line when the available AC power is acceptable. The power supply system also includes a second UPS device coupled to receive power from the AC power line. The second UPS includes a timer delay, such that the control circuitry is configured to couple power conversion circuitry to the AC power line when the available AC power is acceptable, and upon expiration of the timer.
