A sheet registration system for a sheet transport path of a reproduction apparatus providing positive feeding yet lateral registration of a wide range of different image substrate sheets. Independent sheet transport units with plural radius sheet feed rollers spaced along the sheet transport path engage sheets being fed to provide positive feeding of even very short sheets from one sheet transport unit to another, yet provide automatic opening of the nips of selected units to allow lateral registration movement of even a very long sheet in the downstream lateral sheet registration system. The same drive motor rotatably driving each sheet transport unit is controlled in rotational position to selectively open the number of open sheet feeding nips needed for the lateral registration movement of that particular sheet length. The mating idlers for the sheet feed rollers need not be moved to open the nips.

Printer sheet lateral registration system with automatic upstream nip disengagements for different sheet size

A sheet lateral registration system, especially for high speed printer print media, which can also provide sheet deskewing as well as lateral sheet registration, having substantially increased lateral translation movement re-centering time for the lateral sheet registration system by utilizing at least two lateral shifting rollers having at least two different radii which provide automatic nip closings and openings in their rotations (relative to opposing idlers), with larger radius circumferential lengths coordinated to the downstream distance of the subsequent sheet acquisition system. Additionally disclosed are coordinated position non-slip sheet feeding nips which may be positioned in the paper path between these dual radius deskewing and lateral registration rollers and the image transfer station of the printer.

Printer lateral and deskew sheet registration system

In a document feeding system for unfolding and feeding an elongated web multi-sectional computer form (CF) document from one end of a fan-folded stack in a document input stacking area to an imaging station, a CF document unfolding assistance system is provided by a mounting system cantilever mounting from behind the fan-folded stack a single smoothly radiused cylindrical CF unfolding assistance bar, with a radius of approximately 5 to 8 mm, rotatable between a completely non-obstructing rear storage position and a stationary operating position overlying the document input stacking area, and with a detent system for detaining the CF unfolding assistance bar in the operating position, in which this CF unfolding assistance bar is in a fixed position spaced intermediately above the CF web stack by about 5 cm and extending horizontally over the stack substantially perpendicular to the feeding direction in a position which is spaced closer to the one end of the stack than its opposite end, approximately 11 cm from that one end; for otherwise unobstructed loading, unfolding and feeding of the CF document up and over the unfolding assistance bar towards the imaging station with reduced forces and improved control.

Computer form web document unfolding and feeding assistance system

A procedure is provided for adjusting for image line skew caused by tolerance accumulation between a Raster Output Scanning (ROS) assembly and a photoreceptor which is being scanned. The ROS housing is adjustably mounted in relation to the photoreceptor, so that incremental adjustments can be made to cause the output scan lines emerging from the ROS housing to be moved in the process or reverse process direction vis-a-vis the photoreceptor. A test print is generated which provides measurable scan delineators to identify the amount of scan line skew created by a photoreceptor misalignment. The measured scan line skew alignment is correlated with adjustments made by a hex head screw to provide a very precise alignment. The effective adjustment range is .+-.4 mm in the process direction which corresponds to .+-.6.3 milliradians of scan line skew.

An electrical connector assembly having a front and a back side has an electrically insulating connector housing having a front side and a back side and at least one aperture extending from the front side to the back side, an electrically conductive unitary spring clip connector extending from the front side of the housing through the aperture to the back side of the housing, the spring clip connector having a connecting terminal on one end and a resiliently deflectable spring contact on the other end and an insulating retention plate to retain the spring clip connector in the housing, the retention plate being fastened to and on the back side of the connector housing and having at least one aperture therein with the connecting terminal on one end of the spring clip connector extending therethrough.
