An elastic band ligation device for the treatment of haemorrhoids, comprising an inner tube (), a deployer (), and a grasper (), the grasper including at least two gripping arms () and slidably mounted within the inner tube () to open and close the gripping arms. In a closed position, retaining a haemorrhoid, the gripping arms are within the body, and the deployer is positioned to release one of a plurality of ligation bands (). The grasper handle () and the deployer trigger () are operable by a single hand. Preferably the device is disposable and the deployer includes a ratchet so that it may only be moved forward towards the bands. In an alternative device (FIGS.-), the body () is moved to close the gripping arms.
