An actuating device for operating an actuating element of a turbocharger, comprises an actuating drive for generating an actuating force; and a coupling device which is mechanically coupled to the actuating drive and to the actuating element and which is designed to transmit the actuating force to the actuating element; wherein the coupling device has a coupling rod which is coupled, in each case by means of a joint, both to the actuating drive and to the actuating element; at least one of the joints is formed as a ball joint and has a ball socket and a ball head; and a sphere-like surface either of the ball head or of the ball socket of the corresponding joint is formed such that the ball head and the ball socket are in contact by way of at least two contact points in the assembled state.

A bypass valve for an exhaust-gas turbocharger has a valve flap seat formed at one end of a bypass duct and a valve flap. The valve flap has, at the outer edge of the its closing surface, a flap skirt which, in the closed state of the bypass valve, extends from the closing surface predominantly in the direction of the valve seat axis beyond the valve flap seat and at least over a part of the valve flap outer circumference, such that the flap skirt at least partially surrounds the valve seat outer circumference of the valve flap seat and, in an overlap region, engages over the valve flap seat by the skirt height.

A turbocharger has a regulating unit for controlling the output of the turbocharger. The regulating unit can be adjusted by an actuator. The actuator is connected to the regulating unit by way of an actuating member and a lever. The actuating member and the lever are interconnected by way of a screw-nut element.
