A coating composition includes an aqueous carrier medium, at least a first polymer, and polymeric core-shell particles dispersed in the aqueous carrier medium. The first polymer includes: (i) a barrier segment having aromatic groups and urethane linkages, urea linkages, or a combination thereof; and (ii) an elastomeric segment having a glass transition temperature of less than 0&#xb0; C. The barrier segment can make up at least 30% of the first polymer, based on the total solids weight of the first polymer.

Disclosed is a polyester polymer prepared from a reaction mixture comprising a polyacid component and a polyol component that comprises lignin. Residues of lignin are incorporated into the backbone of the polyester polymer. Coatings comprising the same and substrates coated at least in part with such coatings are also disclosed.

An elastic gas barrier coating composition includes a barrier material dispersed in an aqueous media, a polysulfide, and a curing agent reactive with the polysulfide. When applied to a substrate and cured to form a coating, the barrier material forms a continuous phase and a polysulfide elastomer forms a discontinuous phase. An elastic gas coating is also disclosed that includes a continuous phase with a barrier material and a discontinuous phase with a polysulfide elastomer. Substrates at least partially coated with elastic gas barrier coating compositions are further disclosed.

Compositions comprising Michael acceptor-terminated sulfur-containing prepolymers, thiol-terminated sulfur-containing prepolymers, and e phosphine catalysts useful in aerospace sealant applications are disclosed. Rapidly curable electrically conductive clear coatings are applied to substrates. The electrically conductive clear coating includes to clear layer having a resinous binder with ultrafine non-stoichiometric tungsten oxide particles dispersed therein. The clear coating may be rapidly cured by subjecting the coating to infrared radiation that heats the tungsten oxide particles and surrounding resinous binder. Localized heating increases the temperature of the coating to thereby thermally cure the coating, while avoiding unwanted heating of the underlying substrate.

Rapidly curable electrically conductive clear coatings

Provided is a polymerizable composition including: (a) a polymerizable component; and (b) a pigment component the pigment component includes: (i) an ionic or amphoteric dispersant material; and (ii) pigment nanoparticles uniformly dispersed in the dispersant material (i). The nanoparticles have a particle size of up to 500 nanometers. Also provided is a polymerizable composition of: (a) a polymerizable component including: (i) diethylene glycol bis(allyl carbonate); and (ii) a radical initiator; and (b) a pigment component which includes: (i) an ionic or amphoteric dispersant material derived from polycaprolactone; and (ii) pigment nanoparticles of ultramarine blue having an average particle size of up to 500 nanometers, uniformly dispersed in the dispersant material.

The composition comprises a polyene and a active hydrogen-containing compound that are capable of undergoing a Michael Addition reaction. The reaction is conducted in the presence of a tertiary phosphine catalyst. The components of the composition are sprayed in separate streams whereby the streams overlap prior to contacting the substrate and the composition cures quickly on the substrate.
