A method of pairing a sensor node of a transport refrigeration system with a coordinator node using an assisting device in a communication network is provided, the method includes: the assisting device obtains identification information of the sensor node; the assisting device connects with the coordinator node; the assisting device transmits the identification information of the sensor node to the coordinator node for the coordinator node to pair with the sensor node; the assisting device receives pairing status of the sensor node and the coordinator node; and the assisting device indicates the pairing status.

A storage device may be operably coupleable with a host computing device, and the storage device and/or host computing device may be Bluetooth enabled. The storage device may include authentication information. Access to the storage device may be permitted via Bluetooth communication between the Bluetooth enabled device and at least one of the storage device and a host computing device, wherein the Bluetooth enabled device may be within a maximum Bluetooth range of the storage device. Data storage tape comprises one or more data tracks and a servo band. The servo band stores a plurality of servo patterns within a servo frame to facilitate head positioning relative to the data tracks. Spacings between the servo patterns within the servo frame vary to encode information in the servo frame. A number of bits in the information is greater than a number of servo patterns within the frame. Servo patterns in different servo bands on the data storage tape may be different to provide band identification information. The different servo patterns of the different servo bands may allow lateral position calculations using the same formula for each servo pattern.

In general, the invention is directed to servo techniques that utilize servo patterns to facilitate head positioning relative to the data tracks. For example, the servo techniques may include a first series of servo patterns configured to allow calculation of a position error signal that substantially mitigates error resulting from a variation in velocity of the data storage tape during detection of the at least one of the servo patterns in the first series. The servo techniques may also include a second series of servo patterns interleaved within the first series of servo patterns in order to encode data. The encoded data may include linear position information. Embodiments may allow a data storage tape meeting a currently accepted data storage tape specification, e.g., an LTO Ultrium specification, to record data in a higher density than currently implemented with the specification.

The invention proposes the use of a piezoelectric crystal element as an actuator for data storage systems. In particular, the piezoelectric crystal element mechanically positions a head with respect to a data storage medium. More specifically, the invention may use a piezoelectric laminate crystal structure as a fine positioning actuator in a magnetic tape system in order to precisely position one or more heads with respect to tracks of the magnetic tape. Furthermore, in order to address hysteresis in the piezoelectric crystal element, the invention proposes the introduction of a high frequency periodic signal as part of the input to the piezoelectric crystal element.

A servo head comprising a write gap with a non-uniform width is described. It allows non-uniform width servo marks to be recorded on magnetic media. A servo head having a non-uniform width gap may create servo marks that facilitate servo position error signal calculations using time-based methods, amplitude-based methods, or both. This invention provides alternative methods for positioning servo heads and may increase reliability and precision by allowing redundant calculations.
