A coating composition for use in a photographic element, the composition comprising an aqueous solution of: two or more surfactants; a hydrophilic binder; and optional matte particles; wherein one of the surfactants is represented by the following Formula (I):R&#x2014;CHCH&#x2014;(B)-A&#x2003;&#x2003;(I)where Ris F(CFCF)&#x2014; and n is 3 and 4 or 3, 4, and 5, and the fraction of all Rwith n=3 is at least 40%;B is a divalent linking group; y is 0 or 1; and A is an anionic group with a counterion or an amphoteric group. A photographic element containing the coating composition is also disclosed.

Coating composition for photographic materials

A blue-sensitive, radiographic silver halide film comprises a silver halide emulsion layer comprising predominantly tabular silver halide grains that have an aspect ratio of from 8 to 14.5, a grain thickness of from about 0.15 to about 0.3 &mgr;m, and comprise at least 90 mol % bromide and up to 6 mol % iodide, based on total silver halide. The tabular silver halide grains are dispersed in a hydrophilic polymeric vehicle mixture comprising at least 0.5% of oxidized gelatin, based on the total dry weight of the polymeric vehicle mixture in the emulsion layer.

Blue-sensitive film for radiography and imaging assembly and method

High performance radiographic films exhibit visually adaptive contrast when imaged in radiographic imaging assemblies comprising an intensifying screen on both sides. These films having a single silver halide emulsion on each side of a film support and are free of particulate dyes that are conventionally used to control crossover. In addition, the films can be rapidly processed to provide the desired image having visually adaptive contrast, that is the upper scale contrast is at least 1.5 times the lower scale contrast. Thus, dense objects can be better seen at the higher densities of the radiographic image without any adverse sensitometric changes in the lower scale densities. These films are useful for general-purpose radiographic imaging using a wide variety of exposure and processing conditions.
