Associating a user service with a telephony identifier. The user service is accessible by a user of a telephony device via an application on the telephony device. The telephony device is operable in a radio telephony network (RTN) and is contactable via the telephony identifier when operating in the RTN. Network equipment: communicates, between the network equipment and the application on the telephony device, first data comprising a communicated token; receives, from the telephony device, second data comprising a received token, wherein the second data is received from the telephony device via an RTN-native service; receives, from a network node in the RTN, the telephony identifier in control signalling associated with the RTN-native service; and based at least on correlating the received token with the communicated token, associates the received telephony identifier with the user service.

Associating a user service with a telephony identifier

A network entity comprises an interworking function. The network entity is between an endpoint and a registrar in a telecommunications network. A message is received for the registrar from the endpoint, the message comprising data identifying an endpoint characteristic of the endpoint. A message is received for the endpoint. A processing action to be used to process the received message for the endpoint is determined based on the data identifying the endpoint characteristic of the endpoint comprised in the received message for the registrar from the endpoint. The received message for the endpoint is processed in accordance with the determined processing action.

Network entities comprising interworking functions, methods of controlling same, and computer programs

The remote configuration of a telephony device is managed by transmitting configuration data to the device. The data is transmitted via a data communication network. One of more service credentials are received. The credentials are authenticated. A configuration time period is activated in response to authentication of the credentials. A request for configuration data is received via the network, which includes identification data indicative that the request is from a telephony device associated with the credentials. It is determined how to proceed with processing of the request dependent on whether the request is received during the time period. If so, configuration data is transmitted via the network in response to the request. If the request is received after the time period, transmission of configuration data via the network in response to the request is inhibited.

Managing remote telephony device configuration

Monitoring network link quality in a telecommunications network which includes a plurality of intermediate network elements connected to network links via which communications sessions are conducted between respective terminating devices. A communications session comprises signaling procedures relating to the control of the session and media transfer procedures for transmitting media content via a media path established using at least part of the procedures. The established media path includes media path legs which are each established between respective media path leg endpoints connected via a network link. One or more endpoints of a media path leg is determined from at least part of the procedures. The determined one or more endpoints includes a media path leg endpoint at an intermediate network element. Reporting data is generated that comprises data identifying the determined one or more endpoints. The reporting data is transmitted to an analysis system for network link quality analysis.

System and method for monitoring network link quality

A subscriber of a telecommunication system has a plurality of associated telecommunication devices which are each contactable via a device-shared identification address. A first device can communicate with a telecommunications network. A second device can communicate with a packet-switched network and a circuit-switched network. A control system receives an incoming telecommunication request associated with an incoming telecommunication request directed to the address, which has been routed to the control system based on the address. A first control phase is initiated where a first outgoing telecommunication request is transmitted over the telecommunications network to the first device and an operation is performed to at least attempt to transmit a second outgoing telecommunication request over the packet-switched network to the second device. If the operation is deemed to be unsuccessful, a second control phase is initiated where a third outgoing telecommunication request is transmitted over the circuit-switched network to the second device.

Conditional telecommunications

Embodiments of the invention provide methods and apparatus for providing one-telephone dialing number telephony services where only a single telephone dialing number is required for each subscriber, despite each subscriber having multiple telephony devices on which they wish to be contacted. Calls to a one-telephone dialing number telephony service subscriber may be detected at a telephone switch using one or more triggers configured in association with a device-shared telephone dialing number allocated to the subscriber. Upon receipt of a call connection request to a subscriber, control of the call is assumed, for example by redirecting the call to a service platform capable of generating multiple call connection requests. Multiple outgoing call connection requests are transmitted to multiple telephony devices, including a mobile telephone, associated with the device-shared telephone dialing number allocated to a subscriber.
