Systems and methods for expediting medical image retrieval based on examination priority are provided. A method includes receiving medical images and parsing the contents to determine medical image information. The method includes applying priority rules based on the medical image information. The priority rules specify an image storage location for storing the medical images. The image storage locations include workstation cache memory and drives of a local storage system having different image access speeds that are slower than an access speed of the workstation cache memory. The method includes storing the medical images at the specified image storage location as defined by the priority rules and retrieving the medical images from the specified image storage location in response to a request to view the medical images at a workstation. The method includes presenting the medical images retrieved from the specified image storage location at a display device of the workstation.

Method and system for caching medical images based on examination priority

An example system to manage a radiologist workflow includes a first interface to monitor a distribution status of at least one medical exam. The medical exam is to be at least one of automatically allocated or assigned to an examiner work queue based on one or more rules. The example system includes a second interface to view at least one metric associated with distribution of the at least one medical exam and an assignment tool to be displayed via the first interface. The assignment tool is to facilitate assignment of the medical exam to an examiner work queue. The example system includes a rules viewer to be displayed via a third interface. The rules viewer is to facilitate configuration of the one or more rules based on the distribution status, the at least one metric, or the assignment. The rules viewer is to automatically update the one or more rules.

Systems and methods for workflow modification through metric analysis

Accessing image data stored in a first storage unit () at a first location () and a second storage unit (A) at a second location (A) is provided by a common server () located at location. Available imaging data is selected by work stations (orA) based on the identification data stored in server (). Selected imaging data is then transferred to a work station from either of the storage units located at the different locations. In case a low speed network is used, transmission of the data from one location to another is facilitated by image transfer servers (andA).
