Multi-layer electrochromic structures, and processes for assembling such structures, incorporating a cross-linked ion conducting polymer layer that maintains high adhesive and cohesive strength in combination with high ionic conductivity for an extended period of time, the ion conducting polymer layer characterized by electrochemical stability at voltages between about 1.3 V and about 4.4 V relative to lithium, lithium ion conductivity of at least about 10s/cm, and lap shear strength of at least 100 kPa, as measured at 1.27 mm/min in accordance with ASTM International standard D1002 or D3163.

The present invention provides a method of producing oligomers of olefins, comprising reacting olefins with a chromium based catalyst under oligomerization conditions. The catalyst can be the product of the combination of a chromium compound and a pyridyl mono-oxazoline compound. In particular embodiments, the catalyst compound can be used to trimerize or tetramerize ethylene to 1-hexene, 1-octene, or mixtures of 1-hexene and 1-octene.

Nanofilms useful for filtration are prepared from oriented amphiphilic molecules and oriented macrocyclic modules. The amphiphilic species may be oriented on an interface or surface. The nanofilm may be prepared by depositing or attaching an oriented layer to a substrate. A nanofilm may also be prepared by coupling the oriented macrocyclic modules to provide a membrane.

Copolymers of an olefin or alpha-olefin and a cyclic olefin where the cyclic olefin comprises greater than 50 mole percent by weight of the copolymer have been discovered. These copolymers have unique properties, including low density, high chemical resistance, low elongation to break, low shrinkage, good processability, low water absorption and good clarity. The copolymers also may be used as an engineering plastic. A process for making these copolymers is also disclosed, with the process comprising reaction of the olefin or alpha-olefin with the cyclic olefin under polymerization conditions including a catalyst comprising a metal-ligand complex having a bridged bi-phenyl phenol ligand structure.
