Light shows are produced by a plurality of individuals at a gathering using a plurality of personal wireless cellular devices wherein each device is carried by a respective individual and wherein each device has a programmable digital processor and a controllable light show illumination source. A light show application program resides on each personal wireless cellular device for providing coordinated control of the light show illumination sources. An event server stores at least one event sequence corresponding to a predetermined gathering and including at least one timed action. The event sequence is downloadable by the plurality of personal wireless cellular devices for activation of the controllable light show illumination sources in accordance with the event sequence. The system further includes a synchronizer in each device for initiating the timed action. The synchronizer may be a clock or a proximity detector (such as a Bluetooth connection with nearby users).

A communication system comprises a first communication device coupled to a first optical switch by a first link, a second communication device coupled to a second optical switch by a second link, and a third link and back-up links coupling the first and second optical switches. During normal operation, the optical switches connect the third link to the first and second links. The back-up links have various costs and latencies. In response to a fault on the third link, the first optical switch and the second optical switch automatically select an available one of the back-up links having a lowest cost and an acceptable latency, and in response to the selection, automatically disconnect the first link and the second link from the third link and automatically connect the first link and the second link to the selected back-up link.

The processing system identifies an error on a first channel of the plurality of channels. The processing system identifies a third channel of the plurality of channels based on database system and determines if an error occurs on the third channel. A method and system is provided for establishing a secure intercarrier, interlayer communications path that can allocate bandwidth on demand. Using the present invention, one network carrier uses the resources of another carrier to communicate with an otherwise unreachable target component. As bandwidth capacity is reached, the intercarrier connection can be dynamically migrated to a lower network layer. Transmissions of the upper layer are mapped into the lower layer to satisfy the additional bandwidth requested by the connection.

Method and system for establishing a cross-carrier, multilayer communications path

An errorless switching system is disclosed that is comprised of a fault detector, a synchronization system, and a switching system. The synchronization system aligns a first data signal and a second data signal. The fault detector detects errors in the data signals and instructs the switching system to transfer the first data signal or the second data signal to avoid transferring the erroneous data. No data is lost or duplicated because the data signals are aligned at the switching system.
