A storage device for a motor vehicle, such as a station wagon, including at least one partially flexible storage bag, which can be firmly secured in the cargo space, wherein each of two opposing sides of the storage bag features a dimensionally stable supporting section extending along at least one entire horizontal length of the side to which it corresponds, wherein the opposing fronts of the supporting sections can be secured, in a detachable manner, in a mounting device in the cargo space, and the dimensionally stable supporting sections are connected to one another by a flexible folding structure that protrudes into at least one floor section of the storage bag.

An animal restraint system for a vehicle has a vest having leg holes for front legs of an animal. A top strap is extended across the top of an animal wearing the vest and is looped through a buckle tongue and a webbing adjuster defining top and bottom portions of the top strap. The vest is secured to a seat belt of a vehicle by passing the seat belt between the top and bottom portions of the top strap. The top portion of the top strap can be pulled through the webbing adjuster to shorten the bottom portion to adjust the top strap. In an embodiment, the top strap is rotatably coupled to the vest.

Animal restraint system for vehicles

An animal restraint system for a vehicle has a vest having leg holes for front legs of an animal. The vest is symmetrical about the leg holes allowing the vest to be rotated 180 degrees and placed on the animal in either orientation. The vest is removably couplable to a seat belt of the vehicle by a tether strap that has at least one loop through which the seat belt of the vehicle is passed through. The tether strap clips to a top strap of the vest that extends from one side of the vest to the other side of the vest across the back of the animal.

An improved sun visor assembly, particularly adapted for use with motor vehicles. The visor assembly has a retractable auxiliary glare shield featuring snap-in assembly into the visor and includes features which prevent inadvertent removal of the glare shield. An internal or external edge cap is provided which forms an outer edge of the visor and guides the auxiliary glare shield. The edge cap engages and secures the edges of the visor outer board around the opening for the auxiliary glare shield. On one preferred embodiment, an internal split end cap is provided, each half of which engages one of the edges of the outer board by means which allow exact location to allow the end cap halves to snap together permanently after being stitched to the wrapped-around soft trim and outer board. The visor thus has a normal appearance with the end cap which provides a firm opening for the glare shield, while the end cap being invisible.

A hinge assembly is disclosed which is particularly well suited for vehicle accessory applications, such as for pivotally interconnecting vanity doors with vanity housing structures for example. The hinge assembly, which is also applicable for other applications, includes a pivot means pivotally interconnecting first and second members for relative rotational movement about a longitudinal axis, with a cam on the first member protruding in a generally lateral direction to engage a resilient biasing means on the second member. The resilient biasing means, which is preferably a leaf spring, is slidably engaged and resiliently deflected by the cam on the first member and exerts a resilient biasing force on the cam in a generally lateral direction, generally toward the pivot axis. The cam preferably includes one or more dwell portions such that the spring or other resilient biasing means tends to resiliently and releasably maintain the first and second members in one or more predetermined relative rotational orientations when engaged by the dwell portions on the cam.

Spring-loaded hinge assembly for vehicle accessories

A vehicle accessory assembly is disclosed for mounting on an interior panel, such as on a visor, for example, and includes an accessory devce, such as a vanity mirror assembly, interconnected with the visor or other vehicle panel at a generally fixed location thereon. A preferred laterally sliding accessory door is interconnected with the visor or other interior panel for selective lateral movement between a closed position wherein the accessory device is substantially covered and an open position wherein the accessory device is substantially exposed. Preferably, a switch is provided for electrically energizing a light or other electrical component in response to movement of the accessory door from its closed to its open position, and a manually operable override feature is also preferably provided in the event that the user wishes to disable the switch and prevent such energization in response to the opening movement of the door. In addition, the assembly can also be provided with other features, such as a disconnect switch that disconnects the electrical system of the accessory assembly whenever the visor or other vehicle panel is moved to a predetermined position.

An accessory cover apparatus for selectively covering or exposing an open vehicle compartment includes an adjustable mounting assembly interconnectable with the vehicle for mounting and supporting the cover apparatus generally adjacent the compartment opening at an intermediate longitudinal position between the compartments ends. The cover apparatus includes a first cover member that is longitudinally movable between retracted and extended positions. A second cover member protrudes generally in an opposite direction from that of the extended first cover member and is pivotally movable between a closed position and an open position. Preferably, the cover apparatus according to the present invention further includes an open enclosure member disposed beneath the second cover assembly for defining a storage sub-compartment, with the second cover member substantially closing off the sub-compartment when in its closed position and providing access to the interior of the sub-compartment when in its open position.

Cargo cover accessory

A vehicle accessory assembly is disclosed for mounting on an interior panel, such as on a visor, for example, and includes an accessory device, such as a vanity mirror assembly, interconnected with the visor or other vehicle panel at a generally fixed location thereon. A preferred top-hinged accessory door is pivotally interconnected with the visor or other interior panel for selective pivotal movement about a pivot axis between a closed position wherein the accessory device is substantially covered and an open position wherein the accessory device is substantially exposed. A resilient biasing device is provided for resiliently biasing the accessory door toward the open position, and an overrideable latch apparatus is adapted for retaining the accessory door in the closed position. The latch apparatus is selectively actuable to release the accessory door, whereupon the resilient biasing device urges the accessory door into the open position, and a damper apparatus is preferably included for dampening the pivotal movement of the accessory door.

Vehicle accessory assembly for mounting on a visor or other interior

A hinge assembly is disclosed which is particularly well suited for vehicle accessory applications, such as for pivotally interconnecting vanity doors with vanity housing structures for example. The hinge assembly, which is also applicable for other applications, includes a pivot pivotally interconnecting first and second members for relative rotational movement about a longitudinal axis, with a cam on the first member protruding in a generally lateral direction to engage a resilient biasing springs on the second member. The resilient biasing springs, which is preferbly a leaf spring, is slidably engaged and resiliently deflected by the cam on the first member and exerts a resilient biasing force on the cam in a generally lateral direction, generally toward the pivot axis. The cam preferbly includes one or more dwell portions such that the spring or other resilient biasing springs tends to resiliently and releasably maintain the first and second members in one or more predetermined relative rotational orientations when engaged by the dwell portions on the cam.

A vehicle seat assembly is disclosed comprising a vehicle seat; a mirror disposed on the rear side of the seat, a cover for the mirror and a means for mounting the cover to the assembly. A second embodiment is disclosed wherein a light is disposed on the rear side of the seat. Preferably, the light is covered when the cover is in a closed position. A third embodiment is disclosed wherein the mirror is movable.

Vanity mirror

A vehicle seat assembly is disclosed, comprising a vehicle seat; a mirror disposed on the rear side of the seat; and preferably a cover for the mirror with a means for mounting the cover to the assembly. A second embodiment is disclosed wherein a light is disposed on the rear side of the seat. Preferably, the mirror or light are covered when the cover is in a closed position. A third embodiment is disclosed wherein the mirror is movable. Preferably the mirror, or mirror and light, assembly is mounted to an apparatus provided for supportingly interconnecting a head restraint with the vehicle seat, either in a fixed position or in a vertically movable arrangement.

A cover for an automobile compartment, such as the window-exposed rear compartment of a hatchback or station wagon, adapted to extend horizontally over the top of the compartment from a roller mounted behind the rear seat and including a drop panel adapted to conceal any view of the compartment back of the seat through a side window or otherwise.

In a vehicle which has a luggage space visible through a hatchback type opening and formed between spaced sidewalls of the vehicle, an easily removable security curtain and support mechanism for the luggage space which is adapted to cover articles within the luggage space in overlying relation thereto. The security curtain includes an elongated strip of flexible material having a width generally equal to the distance between the spaced vehicle walls and with an end edge thereof attached to a rotatable support roller so that the curtain may be wrapped around the roller when in a retracted or stored operative position. The ends of the support roller are attached to the vehicle sidewall and supported thereby by means of cap members on the ends of the roller support in a manner permitting relative rotation therebetween. Each cap member includes an axially outwardly protruding nose portion which is received within a vertical channel of an associated receiving or mounting means which is attached to the vehicle sidewalls. At least one of the end cap members is biased by a spring, internal to the roller support, to permit yieldable inward and outward axial movement which movement facilitates insertion and removal of the nose within the channel.
